Here's a useful feature I'd really like to see:

Have Gatherer display a circle around your minimap position icon, with a radius equal to the detection range of whatever tracking skill you're using. That way, if you are searching for new nodes, you'll know how close you need to get to a likely node spot (ex: mountains) in order to see the yellow node blip on the minimap.

already on the todo list (just a matter of reusing/adapting/fixing the old MapRadius addon really).

btw all tracks have the same range (ressource track that is), though the exact tracking range may vary a bit (up or down) depending on terrain, lag and mouvement speed.

The other thing that changes detection radius are things like Ornate Spyglasses and other things that let you see farther. I can see (and detect) clear out to the edge of the minimap when using one of those.

you can do what i do atm. zoom out minimap. get a node on the edge of where you can just see it tracked. then zoom in until that range is basically the range of the minimap. once you get a feel for what the zoom lvl is its easy to change it and return it to that range as you need

If you zoom all of the way in on the minimap until the + turns grey, then click zoom out two times, that's your detection radius. :)

actually the detection radius is slightly larger than that (at standard range, discounting the exceptions I named above) so if you reduce things to that level you'll miss a few tracking dots (only those really on the outer limit of the detection radius though).

The current code in gatherer turns the icons to rings by default at around the detection range (I say around, because it depends exactly on when the server decides to send you data before you can "see" them.)

I am inquiring on the status of putting in the old map radius feature into Gatherer. Any progress?
