Can anyone confirm that selected scans (say, trade goods for example) are not available to Auctioneer "Search Auctions"? After a scan of individual category, it appears that old data is being used when comparing results to AH browse.

I believe that when you scan an individual catagory the existing snapshot is updated with the results of that category. Any other categories scanned in the last 24 hours will still be in the snapshot. Every auction in the snapshot has an expiration date based on approximately how much time was left in the auction. Once the expiration date passes, it will never be returned as a result of a search.

The Search Auctions tab lets you narrow your search to a given category. That's the best way to avoid seeing older information in other categories.

That has simply not been my experience...Auctioneer "Search Auction" does NOT reflect the same info as AH "Browse" moments after a category update (NOT a full scan just to be clear)... but I'm looking for confirmation of that from others.

If Auctioneer "Search Auctions" SHOULD reflect the current AH "Browse" listings, then I have a problem that needs to be rectified somehow.

I am also using Fizzwidget's "Reagent Cost" (updated for 1.10) and am wondering if it might be breaking Auctioneer somehow. I'll try the selective scan with RC unloaded and see what transpires.

no, the search auctions tab is not meant to reflect the current AH, but rather whats contained within Auctioneer's snapshot.

I think I misunderstood your original question. MentalPower has it right.

We're talking in circles here, the point being that a scan of an individual category doesn't appear to update the "snapshot" that is used for the Auctioneer "Search Auctions". I can't understand why this point isn't being grasped here. Either I'm failing to communicate or I'm not seeing the forest thru the trees.

If you can't update a category individually by downloading that categories data, what's the purpose in utilizing that individual scan feature? Some "items" have extremely active trading (say runecloth for example which may have several pages of listings). I'd like to be able to scan "trade goods" then allow Auctioneer "Search Auctions" to display the results of that scan so that I can make a best priced purchase or competitively priced sale. If the program isn't designed to do that, so be it.

It should work exactly as you describe. Note, though, that an extremely active item is likely to make your scan and resulting snapshot quickly out of date.

It doesn't. The "Search Auction - Item" result after a selective category scan often bears little resemblance to an AH "Browse" item scan.

    However, after reading the following...

Quote:New “Search Auctions” tab has been added to the Auction House frame. This tab is meant to be the graphical equivalent of the “/auctioneer percentless”, “/auctioneer broker”, “/auctioneer bidbroker” and “/auctioneer compete” commands. (Vindicator)

...I'm thinking I might not grasp the logic of a "Search Auctions" output. Shouldn't an "item" search essentially replicate the content of an AH "Browse" search immediately following a selected scan?

Quote: Note, though, that an extremely active item is likely to make your scan and resulting snapshot quickly out of date.

I'm aware of that, though I can live with what might have changed in the 2 or 3 minutes it might take to do a selected scan. In fact, a rapidly changing commodity is all the more incentive to do more frequent selective scans.
