2 questions kinda... both with the Latest Greatest Alpha builds
the data I had from pre2.0 isn't there... are there tools or is there a way to convert or import/export old backup data? Gatherbook1.3 was what I used for backup/editing... and in a similar vein, me and my girlfriend wow on different computers... is there a way to sync 2.0 data between the two computers?
if it's too soon for me to ask these questions, lemme know... and I'm sure that a solution for one of these questions will be good for the other.
I've grown attached to Gatherer and miss having all the data at my fingertips and tools to work with.
1 - there is no separate "conversion tool". the first time you run one of the 2.0 capable builds it should prompt you to convert. after that, you shouldn't have to do anything. are you sure one of your characters wasn't in a neutral city at the time? if so, please read the FAQ to understand why it looks like your data is missing.
2 - there is no way to sync data between computers in wow. if you're saavy enough, you might be able to set up a folder on a shared drive and use hardlinks to have both users point to it, but this will get dangerous if you are both playing at the same time.
K. I'll back up the gatherer data I have now, and replace the gatherer.lua with my old and see what happens... as you say, it should convert - which is what I'd expect, since you guys have always had a solid mod as far as I've ever used it. Gotta love alpha :)
As far as linking to a shared file, that wouldn't work... we both play at the same time too often for that to really be feasible... I'm assume knowledge of GatherBook1.3, which is what I've used for ages now to backup and sync... Never really considered it wasn't officially supported
And then again... maybe I'll just use this as an excuse to 'clean house' and start my gatherer database over from scratch, especially since I plan on encouraging anyone in my guild to get it when it's offically released (And maybe before lol)
