    It would be nice to Have a forum dedicated to BTMScan since it could be considered its own mod. I know it bases its data
    off of what is scanned using Auctioneer, but there are so many ways to tweak it so you get the results you wish.
    If not, maybe this thread could start the discussion of how people use baserule and other settings to get good results to popup when
    running the btmscan.

    For example: This is what I use for my baserule:
    base = auctPrice
    auctionFee = cutRate * base
    basePrice = base - depositFee - auctionFee

    This gives me a simple formula to check for things on the AH during the scan.
    Then I set other /btm commands as follows:
    maxprice = 20g
    minprofit = 50s
    pctprofit = 30%
    mindeprofit = 35s
    pctdeprofit = 45%
    commonmult =1.5
    enchant = 60

    It seems to me that I'm barely scratching the surface of using /btm. When I do get something to pop up from btm
    it isn't always a good buy. I usually look at the suggested price rather than price the popup says I could sell it for (it is
    usually higher than what I can auction it for. I'm also leery of buying items so I can DE them. Anyone uses a good rule of thumb for that?
    I understand each realm has its own 'prices', but I think a compilation of commands/settings would help the users of this community rather
    than a simple explanation of what the command does. Since I'm not a math or economics major I'm not always aware of the things I should be
    and I think I'm missing a bigger part of the picture using this or I'm doing just fine and keep it up.

    I agree with starting a forum for it as it is pretty big. Also I've had BTM since around christmas and I've noticed a lot of profit with deing although right now I'm scared to do anything as the markets changing so much.

    I was wondering if there was a way to automatically buyout / bid on the item that BTMscan brings up on your screen. I have it set up perfectly, but It's annoying having to sit here , and click. Please Help!:confused:

    Nope you have to click. Blizzard added that "feature" in 2.0 so that people had to click on things.
    It prevents people from logging in and botting through the AH.

    Great idea, you've got the first post.

    Paranoia... if you have set yours up perfectly as you say, why not share what you have learned with the community.

    I have started messing around with it myself, but have not had much success so far, especially with the market fluctuating so drastically right now.

    The trouble is, perfection differs from server to server and from trader to trader.

    His/Her perfection won't be yours.

    the biggest thing with making sure your DE profits are accurate, is scanning all the time. I just have my profit percentages, and such set to a point where I shouldn't lose money if the market changes over night. Just make sure you scan 8 times a day lol, that's usually what I do. I also like to scan for item bids that would make a 45% profit right after I scan with a short/medium time limit. Other then that, it's pretty cool. Make sure you have fun with it ! Go to the /btm commands and go through and use common sense with each command. Like Norganna said, it's very different from server to server.

    On another note, thank you norganna for your reply on "having to click" lol. I guess it's only legal and fair for people not to click, I personally would hate it on my part when I think about it. Keep up the good work guys.

    You are right there are many commands to go through with BTM. Yet while every server is different, the game itself is the same
    if we can pool our collective I think it would help the beginner to figure out which commands to tweak. I think it would also help the testing.
    Maybe you are over compensating for a bug that shouldn't be there.
    Anyways just a thought. I started to use BTM to buy DE items. I don't seem to get many hits for it though.
    I thought BTM only scanned new auctions as they were getting posted not previous ones (unless you are using it with the scan).
    Is anyone using BTM while scanning and how is that working?

    Works great until the end when the scan button may get greyed out and require a relog to fix. Not a big issue.

    does this just mean hitting the scan button in the browse tan while bottom scanner is active?

    Interesting, my biggest problem with all of the mods offered here is the lack of instructions. I have BottomScanner and now I at least have an idea of what it does...maybe I can figure out how it works...

    ehhh.... no instructions??? Sorry to say but there is a whole bunch of webpages with instructions. The so-called wiki-pages. Take a look at them and if you miss things there ask here and we will try to clarify it here and there.

    If you think you can add help to something there, don't hesitate and add it (it is a wiki-page, so every peep can help).

    It's probably greyed out due to the continual 20 second "search" by BTM combined with the built in UI restriction of how frequently you can do auction house searches. Usually when I find my search/scan buttons greyed out I either have to manually stop the BTM scan or wait for a moment between searches where the button becomes available.

    Ok I understand how to use btm scan and auction scan but even tho i reset my minprofit margin to say a certain price btm still brings up items that are around a profit of 30copper, whats up with that?? Also For btm scanner to be effective, should a good week of scanning the AH be done before searching for items. I'm finding it difficult to find any good items.

    One other thing, Occasionally when I will be scanning and using btm, i will get similar items for the 30 copper profit to come up, but nothing else, does this mean that they are the only items that btm sees or am i stuck on some auction page where it only is scanning that page, I'm not sure if this has somethign to do with the 20sec scans it does. Thanks for all your help.

    by default, BTM just scans the last page. if you run a scan, it will piggyback on top of that and search all the auctions as the scan progresses. once you purchase or decline a given item, you shouldn't get any more notificatiosn about it (if you do, it's because more of them have been listed).

    i don't know why you're seeing items with profits smaller than your settings - the settings are working fine for me. yes, you do need to build up your price database with regular scans before BTM will be very successful for you.

    The only setting i changed was the miniprofit, is there something else i have to do to make that saved or static for the btm scanner while auctioneer is scanning?

    One other question. When everyone talks about btm scanner scanning the last page...Does that mean i pick a page of auctions that i'm looking at and then btm scanner scans that page or am i missing out on something? Does this mean i can select weapons and then scan all of the weapons for bargains? Thanks.

    it scans all items on the last page of auctions (the things most recently put up for auction, regardless of category, duration, etc.).

    what exactly did you type to change the min profit? please be exact, and also tell us what message was printed in your chatlog.

    ok, can bottomscanner be used to add to your auctioneer database? If I wanted to work on getting data and wasn't really playing can I have that scan the last ones to keep dibs on the AH

    no, BTM last page scans do not add to your database. You need to do regular AH scans.

    Heres what I think I typed: /btm miniprofit 1g It then put in the chat log, minimum profit changed to 1gold. I then asked some of my guild mates and they told me that the only things outside that profit are items that you can vendor for a profit. Is that true? or should the profit change for them also?

    Also, I was noticing when I login a message comes up and says...Auction database 30% and some other stuff, full. Does the database have a limit for memory that it can have? And if so, what do i do when that fills up? Thanks.

    ok, you need to look here and make sure you're using the proper commands. miniprofit isn't a command, minprofit is.

    also, the value you use is the price in copper, if you typed in "1g" it probably set it to 1, as in 1 copper, not 1 gold. for 1g, you would need to use 10000.

    i don't understand your question about vendoring. there are three sets of filters: one for resale (minprofit, pctprofit), one for disenchanting [if you have enchantrix installed] (mindeprofit, pctdeprofit), and one for vendoring (vendprofit). they are all independent, and every item is checked against all three.

    finally, please read the support FAQ if you want to know more about the "SV full" stuff.

    The thing about purchasing things for DE is that there is no deposit fee for the items. If they don't sell you do not lose any money. You do have to "float" money for a longer period if stuff doesn't sell but you don't really lose value.

    One little change I've made to my baserule is to include a buffer for having to relist an item 3 times:

    base = auctPrice
    auctionFee = cutRate * base
    basePrice = base - (3*depositFee) - auctionFee

    Is it possible to setup a rule based on an item's name? IE- buy all armor items with a name including 'Frozen Wrath' from levels 40-50 ?

    not with the base product. a user has uploaded a patch to allow for custom rules which might work for something like this, but i haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

    Yes, that patch will allow such rules (as well as pretty much anything else you can get from data available to BottomScanner).
