what is the command to reset bottomscanner to the defaults. i played with the setting and now i want to old settings.
i'm finding that if i use the search auction function for say "dust" i'll be able to bid for the item but when i search for dust buy the items are greyed out? i think some how bottomscanner is interfering cause those are the only settings i've changed, and it worked before.
Also is there a option so then when i bid for multiple items it will continuew bidding rather then conferming each bit seperatly?
    thanks again

i don't believe there is any command to reset BTM to defaults.

the search being disabled sounds like a known bug. the BTM settings aren't causing it (though using BTM may be...as I said, it's a bug).

there is no way to have BTM bid on multiple items at once. WoW requires you to confirm each one with a click now.

I have not used bottomscanner yet Quite frankly I am not sure if I totaly understand it I was wondering how it can be useful with less tha 95 silver in liquid assetts? and as a new player I have hardly used auctioneer yet... Though I can see how important it will be

My friend who got me into the game (who is in the UK so we can not play together) told me to start a Draenei hunter on a new Realm (which I have done on Exodar( Duart lev 12 Hunter doing Mining and Herbs for now to get cash) and gave me a list of must have addons... all of yours :cheer: and Titan and rangehelp and a few others)

Now he has not started a new char for well over a year so I am not getting much new player help from him right now hence this post (oh Yes He has just told me to make another char and at lev 5 I am told I need to move him to an action house to be a banker and that is all... does everyone do this?)

I have read the Bottomscanner Wiki and I was struck with this phrase

And while the default rule is adequate for identifying the absolutely "You'd have to be brain-dead to pass it up" fantastic deals, the harder to identify bargains will be passed up by it, so if you want to find those, you will have to dabble with your own baserule that matches your market as closely as possible.

Do I read this as do not attempt to use this stuff untill you ale say lev 40 or so?

What I was thinking could there be a set of sample settings that might be provided by one of the experts for a new player on a new realm who is still working on having his first total of 1 gold in hand? as I have no Idea what my 'market' is within the context of the game yet... sort of like the set that has been done for the high level player at the Wiki

or to put it another way I was wondering just what are the default settings? and how should I as a low level new player on a newserver change them if at all or should I ignore it till I am a much higher level

Well there is 2 cents worth from one VERY new player

    Thanks for reading this
    Windy

PS: I am Stunned at the speed with which others can play this game!
I wander around Like a Rube in NYC looking at the tall buildings all the time!
I have about 35 hours played and am just lev 12 yet I read about folks who go from 0 to 70 in 3 weeks!! I can not even conceive of that! oh well I guess everyone was new at this sort of thing once but I do feel rather unworthy sometimes as I struggle to learn all the lore and understand the quests and the related stories... I am spending more time reading the back story on the Blizzard websith than I am playing the game and I am still rather confuesd yer when I ask some one a question about these things in the game I get the LTP NOOB thing a lot... well I am trying... but I do wish that some of these experts remembered what it was like the first time they ever tried a MORPG :whorship:

My advice - You're a new player. You're experiencing the game for the first time and getting that great, first-time "gosh, wow!" with every quest and new adventure. Forget the auction hall for now. You don't need to make money at the moment; you just need to get out and adventure, have fun, learn how to play your class, and do all the quests you can.

What you SHOULD do, re: the auction hall is make an "auction alt" like your friend suggested and use auctioneer to scan the auctions once a day. This isn't to make you money (yet). It's to insure that when you ARE in a position to start making money that you have a realistic pricing database built up and you're in a position to evaluate the real worth of an item. The other advantage of an "auction alt" is that your main character can just mail items to him and the alt ("mule" in game parlance) can sell the items and mail the money back to your main every so often. Saves you the trouble of having to go back to town all of the time.

Bottomscanner is intended to highlight bargains on the auction hall so that you can buy them and resell them. IMO, being able to do that requires a familiarity with the game and the market that you don't have yet as a "true newb". Forget the auction hall for now, go level up to 20 or so, and enjoy the ride. About the time you start saying "hmmm, I'm getting owned a lot in this newbie gear, I should upgrade" is about the time that you should start getting educated about the auction hall.

That said, you CAN start with as little as 95 silver. You just have to start slow and be very choosy about what you buy and sell because you'll likely be buying just one or two items at a time. Two pieces of advice - First, don't even bother with it until you've got a couple of weeks of auction scans under your belt. You need a realistic idea of your local server/faction's market to make intelligent decisions. Second, never take Bottomscanner's recommendations as gospel. BTM makes great recommendations most of the time, but it can't account for fluctuations in the market. Always do a search on the item to verify BTM's analysis. You may find that today's price is low because someone is dumping stock onto the auction hall. That's a buy opportunity IF you are in a position to hold onto your stock for awhile. If you need to turn your stock around quickly in order to stay liquid, then you should avoid that item despite the current low price because the market will be depressed for awhile. Likewise, you may find that an item has dropped in value recently (say, because it was rare but word has gotten out and now everyone and his brother is trying to sell the previously rare item) and BTM is still claiming it as "valuable" based on prior auctioneer data. If BTM says something's a bargain but you see that half the auctions for that item are at the low price then you should probably wait a bit to see whether it's a temporary dip or a permanent drop in the market.

Mostly, be prepared to dedicate some time to monitoring the auction hall if your goal is to make money as a trader. This is why I say you really shouldn't be concerned at this point in your game life. You should just be concerned with playing the game and having fun. Your most profitable method of making money will be to take up a gathering occupation like skinning, mining or herbalism, and sell the stacks of raw materials on the auction hall. Save the market speculation for when you've got some game experience under your belt and you're ready for an alternate way to "play" the game. ;)

Posted By: slickriptideThat said, you CAN start with as little as 95 silver.

If you REALLY know how BTM works you can start with 30 silver (I managed that with my latest alt). But that is REALLY KNOWING WHAT SELLS AND WHAT NOT. (And having another char online which can disenchant and see it as a customer to which you sell a disenchantable item and not as an alt who can disenchant (thus that char pays for the item you send it to disenchant))
