I had a very large very complete gatherer.lua file (which i luckilly have backups of). 2 days ago out of the blue i log in to notice all my nodes were gone. Gatherer was loaded but there was no information anywhere so i went to the lua file and it had been cleared back to the default. I thought it was odd so i took the .bak file and renamed it back to .lua after exiting the game.. Loaded the game back up again and the same thing happened. I thought this was very odd so i downloaded the latest Gatherer and the same problem is happening. This time i left the empty lua file and went to farm some herbs... picked up 5 herbs. the nodes showed up on the map and it appeared to be working. I exited the game.. went back in and the lua cleared itself again.

Please help.. i need to farm and im pretty much dead in the water. Attached is my lua file.

Without looking at the file, it sounds like it may have gotten corrupted. Do you have any earlier backups you can try?

Try updating all of your Ace2 addons, there have been some rumours of this problem being caused by out of date Ace2 libraries, although I have no idea how that could happen.

Well, that would be new one, but it wouldn't surprise me either. The new Ace2 libs made with modifications for the upcoming WoW 2.1 patch have caused havoc with Auctioneer and related mods, as noted in the FAQ at the top of the forum.

Easiest way to troubleshoot that one is to simply disable everything but Gatherer and see if the problem still occurs, or at least start by disabling all the Ace mods.
  1.
I have the same problem with the erasing database. Its caused by the Addon Autobar (Version autobar-toadkiller-2-01-00-02-beta).

Hi! I saw this thread and decided to make an account, I had this same problem a while ago and it drove me nuts, What caused MY problem was the add on "Atlasloot Enhanced" i got a newer version of Atlasloot and it no longer deleted it, so just compare some add ons and try and find the culprit, im sure its an add on, id suggest making a copy of your .lua file, remove an add on from your Interface folder, set it on the desktop, boot the game, log out, log in, if the nodes are gone, do it again, and just do some tests until you find the add on clashing with Gatherer

i have this issue and i have spent the last 4 days investigating it. the gatherer.lua file is stored in 2 diff subdirs under the \wtf folder (in wow). and i made sure today to check my ace2 library and it was up to date with the ace2 library from curse.

the version of gatherer.lua stored here is fine
    C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\[myacctname]\SavedVariables

while the version stored here keeps getting reset
    C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\[myacctname]\Alleria\Bevm\SavedVariables

so as long as i copy the good version over each time i exit the game, i do not lose any of my saved node info.

i also made sure to save the good .lua file in a few other places as backups during my experiments.

any suggestions as to why the .lua file is stored in 2 separate subdirs?

thx for any suggestions. others i nmy guild do nto have the problem so it is probably some other mode.

Yep this has happened twice to me now, once about 6 months ago and now just the other day, and it did it spectacularly. My entire gui screwed up. I could control my toon, but all the writing on the screen had disapeared, I could no longer right click on anything. I watched as a lowbe horde waved and stole my mine! :( When I rebooted all my nodes for all my toons were gone...cry. I found this site while trying to get info on how to back up the file. I don't use that many add ons, have titan panel, necrosis, cartographer and deadly boss mod, that's about it.

Anybody have a direct way of saving these as back ups? Maybe that should be an option in the next upgrade, an auto back up everytime you log in?

addons don't have file i/o capabilities. To backup files, you need to do it manually. My recommendation is to use a backup program to make periodic backups of the whole WTF folder
