wowwatcher data uploading is re-enabled. there is a low priority effort towards improving what we collect and what we do with it, but right now most effort is on auctioneer 5.0.
Hm, there might be a bug in the Uploader, it always breaks after uploading ("Beginning upload of 123456 Bytes..." or similar in the lower right corner)
Should I still upload Data, or is ist better to wait till Auctioneer 5.0 comes out and Watcher will be the main Focus?
Watcher really needs some people to work on it. I'm kinda stretched out thin at the moment, and I get the feeling that when 5.0 is finally released, I'll want to take a big long break from everything. I'm finding it really hard to motivate myself towards tying up the loose ends in Auctioneer 5 as it is :) so I think that getting it out the door will be my primary focus at the moment.
Additionally, the lack of (skilled) people interested in working on Watcher kind of indicates to me that perhaps the need for such a site is less than I had thought. I think the skilled people are out there doing their own thing, and it's up to me to get the site to critical mass before there's any real interest (from the community) in helping extend it.
My plans for the moment are: * Finish Auctioneer 5.0. This means basically what's there right now, plus a "Place auctions" tool, then it's into alpha, and just bugfixes left. * Work on my next "Donators special gift", which incidentally will have something to do with Auctioneer again this time like last time, but less controversial (but also as good, if not better) I hope! * Tidy up Watcher to a usable state, which means: Bug free uploads, Basic website usage (to the level of other sites out there) and an XML data feed for other AddOn authors out there to query Watcher for data. * IFF Watcher starts doing well, we may see about putting some of my meagre resources into making it truly outstanding. For the time being, I really only want the ability to keep Informant up to date with current item data anyhow.
Unfortunately I'm only one person, and while I'd like to do everything, I am limited by the amount of hours I can put into what is essentially a hobby for me.
