First allow me to congratulate you on the most awesome update in recorded history. The difference between Auc4 and AucAdv is like Aspect of the Cheetah and Armored Netherwing Drake with Riding Crop.

Now then, on to the feedback:

    -Tooltip-
It would be nice to be able to configure the tooltip much like you could in Auc4. I'm sure this is on the ToDo list, so here's what I would like to do with the tooltip:
--Show "Suggested Price for your x stack: <price> bid, <price> BO".
If stack is > 1, on a new line underneath the above: "Suggested Price per unit: <price> bid, <price> BO".

I think many would appreciate this, as it is a format we are familiar with.

--The ability to hide information from the tooltip, for those of us who like a minimalist display.

    -Configuration-
--Accessing the configuration from the sidebar-thingy Gatherer already uses would be a big plus.

    -Appraiser-
--Returning to the system of drag and drop auctions to the posting frame is probably impossible (or un-desired by the development team), but still. I do not recall whether or not the list is sorted alphabetically, but either ways I often find it more difficult to find the item in the list than in my bag.
--The transparent window on the right hand side is extremely difficult to read for me. It's strata seems to be way too low, so it is overlapped by the two right action bars in the Blizzard UI, also the Clock addon from Cosmos overlaps it.
What I would suggest is either increase the frame strata to make it overlap anything else, or (better yet) move the information onto the main window (it barely fits into the window on a 1280x1024 resolution). At least having an option to move this information to the main Appraiser window would be very much appreciated.

    /end
I apologise if any of the above is blatantly obviously on the ToDo list already.

This may seem like a lot of whining for a product that's barely out of internal development phase, but making a 40,000 word post about how the rest of the addon is made of awesome doesn't help you improve it.

In closing, I would like to reiterate that you did an excellent job on this addon.

Well, AucAdvanced has some cool looking Gui Modules. The modules however are not AuctioneerAdvanced. They are merely satellite addons that utilize the framework provided by Auctioneer advanced.

Bear in mind that while this may seem indistinct to you as an end-user, from a development point of view, I've been working on the framework for the last 8 months, and whipped up Appraiser in about 3 days. CompactUI took a bit longer at about 5 days. The stats modules were also about a day to 2 each. The gui niceties are certainly some nice eye-candy, but they are certainly not the focus for me.

Obviously as an end user, they are the primary focus of your attention, and you couldn't really give 2 hoots about this "framework" thingamajig.

My primary focus here was to develop a superior framework which can be (wait for it) extensible, by less experienced, more enthusiastic authors.

Unfortunately, the superior framework would be less than useless if nobody uses it, so the question was: What is the minimum necessary to get people using AuctioneerAdvanced, and get developers working on cool new features and converting cool old ones?

    The answer was:

A complete, rock-stable, fully functional, modular and extensible core framework.
Better basic statistics than the current Auctioneer 4, but not as good as it can be.
An auction posting interface that meets or exceeds the current Auctioneer 4 posting interface.
Some eye candy for the users, because well you guys seem to like that kind of thing, who knows eh?
Enough rough, unfinished GUI stuff to encourage other developers to take an ownership in the new code base.

This is what I hope has been provided, and from this point, I want other developers taking a bigger role in fleshing out AuctioneerAdvanced's future. I'm not the Lead Developer, or even one of the core programmers anymore. I'm just the one crazy person idiot enough to see a better way of doing things and spending 9 months of time I should have been playing WoW to build it on the premise that: If I build it, they will come.

If AuctioneerAdvanced fails from the seeds that I've planted, well it probably wasn't meant to be, and I will have learned a serious lesson.

All your suggestions are great, and I'm sure most of them will be implemented in the fullness of time.

--Accessing the configuration from the sidebar-thingy Gatherer already uses would be a big plus.

This *should* be working at the moment, however the version of DongleStub used in Astrolabe (which in-turn is used in Gatherer) seems to be incompatible with nSidebar's revision of DongleStub. I am currently in the process of rewriting nSidebar (and other embeddable libraries that we maintain) to use our own new nStub loader instead, since this DongleStub thing has bitten us a couple of times now, and also it is much more complex than what we need.

--Returning to the system of drag and drop auctions to the posting frame is probably impossible (or un-desired by the development team), but still. I do not recall whether or not the list is sorted alphabetically, but either ways I often find it more difficult to find the item in the list than in my bag.

It's sorted by quality, then by name.

--The transparent window on the right hand side is extremely difficult to read for me. It's strata seems to be way too low, so it is overlapped by the two right action bars in the Blizzard UI, also the Clock addon from Cosmos overlaps it.

I'll look at the strata thing, but unfortunately, we are trying to cram a lot of information into a little space. We did have it all crammed on the main window initially. Believe me, it was *CRAMMED*... and ugly.

As soon as I iron out the bugs however, I'm on hiatus. Gonna level me a character above 60.

    first off, it's bloody good!

secondly make the compactUI a default as i feel its very important to the entire functionality of aadv, and anyone whos interested enough to download it will want it on

thirdly - give us a SCAN NOW and PAUSE SCANNING button on the Browse panel

    keep up the awesome work

Please give the option to resize the tooltip font size--it's a bit too big (may not be AADV itself, but something changed the size). Also, please add back in Auction Fee and Deposit costs to the tooltip--makes a difference when choosing to buy. One more thing: it's super-spammy--every time I prepare a post, it tells me it just scanned (cool that it just scanned though!) in my General chat box.
    Thanks for AADV!!!!:boogie:

    Just Feedback

Using Auctioneer 4 with its Bottomscanner as usual. Added Auct Adv 2137 to begin accumulating its scan data (overwrote its bttmscanner with the old one). Noticed while doing a regular bottomscan (no auctioneer scanning running--live scan I guess) whenever a UI refresh or doing an item search the Auct ADV blue font in chat would say scan halted and list new, unchanged, time scanned, etc. It was accumulating new auctions while bottom scanning--even assigning a percent to them. Just now put on Auct adv 2166 and it doesnt do that anymore...The new items are still new and no percent assigned.
Was thinking to put 2137 back on, for now at least havent used Auct Adv for anything else beyond scanning. This was great for building the new database while bottomscanning.

I know the Search tab isn't implemented yet, but does that mean you can't search at all?
The most used (and profitable) functionality for me was the "percentless" and "bidbroker" type searches.

Very interesting new version. I like the fact I can automatically set it to post say full stacks of 10 regardless of how many i have (and not post lose remainder).

One thing auct4 didn't have which I would love in this new version is to be able to set it to use my fixed price as the market value. So if i set copper bar at 5s each fixed and enable the option, and search for copper bars. Those below my fixed price will be <100% and those above would be >100%. I know i should know my own prices but when you buy and sell a diverse amount of goods...well.

Annoying thing which is probably because its not the full release yet is no ALT+Click Item=Search for item. Is this auc4 feature planned for 5?

And finally a question is the scan goods option which enabled you to search out bargains now seems to be integrated with browse. But this limits the bargain hunt to one page at a time? Is similar functionality available or planned? ETA: Seems to have been answered above, in which case disregard this question!

Thanks very much for your efforts on this, Auctioneer is by far the best add-on for WoW.

I'm sure over time this addon will turn out to be a great addon, like the old Auctioneer.
Right now there are just too many "rough edges" that prevents me from dropping the old Auctioneer, like:
    - No search feature.
    - No "Remember price" option.
    - The constant 8-line chat spam is >really< annoying. After a full scan it's ok, but not for every page you browse in the AH.
    - <Alt>-click no longer put an item up for sale. I don't know if there's another way to do it here, other than dragging it from your inventory.

2 - any fixed price you enter should be automatically saved.

4 - you use the list on the left side now.
  1.
I really like this new Auctioneer and am also aware that it's still under construction and is beta right now. I just want to mention something that someone else above also mentioned about the tooltips no longer displaying the deposit cost. I've tried to look through the code in BottomScanner and it seems like the code is there, just not yet implemented so I'm assuming that it's going to be added in the future unless there's some option to enable it that I'm unaware of? If not, is there some quick and simple code I can add to one of the files to display this information? It really helps when just browsing the market manually to know what you should pickup and what to avoid due to high deposits.

Appreciate all the hard work you guys have been putting into this, an awesome piece of software.

Firstly I wish to congratulate the team (and the one "crazy guy" who dreamed it all up) on a job well-done. Indeed, in spite of a few gui-related minor "bugs" (or lack of features, rather), I think the step-up from the previous Auctioneer is great, and given time for adjustment, we'll all find it invaluable and couldn't conceive how we used to manage with the lesser version. Anyway.

A couple of features I am personally currently missing (apart from the "Search" tab that is, which I understand is under development):

    (a) browse (CompactUI) : would be nice if it remembered the sort preference (and the "buy vs bid") accross logouts ; also, I'd much rather see a separate "ea" column instead of one column which does it all (I know you can check a box to display "ea" prices instead, but it's just not convenient)

    (b) Bottom Scanner currently makes it impossible to browse at the same time ; perhaps this is an API limitation, but I'd like to be able to leave BtmScan running regardless of what I do at the AH (currently I have to stop it each time I want to browse for specific items)

    (c) Appraiser interface : great stuff! Much better than the former alt-click "Post items" tab ; what I am missing is :
    - tooltip display on item icon (the one you have to click to grey it out), I know you can get the tooltip from the left-hand-side list but still...
    - when opening the tab, it would be nice that it went to the top of the list automatically (perhaps only in a new AH session) ; current behaviour is that the item previously selected keeps focus (I think)
    - minor bug in "starting bid" input : if you start inputting silver (instead of gold) it will display an error message "starting bid cannot be 0" or something to that account, which is wrong (and annoying)
    - minor bug in "Post item" while new item is being loaded (ticket http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/scm/ticket/1717)

    Thank you!

I'm happy to second (or third, or fifth) the positive feedback as to the look and feel of Appraiser in the new Auctioneer Advanced. If I was technically capable of looking under the hood at the improved code and data structures, I'm sure I would give you positive feedback there as well. :winkkiss:

It seems that a few features I used have changed or are missing. Perhaps I can figure out new ways to do what I want to with the new version, if I explain how I use Auctioneer and Enchantrix:

    1. I have fixed prices set for all disenchant materials (dusts, essences, shards). These are the base prices at which I value these items. As you probably know, the market price can fluctuate from day to day and week to week. When that happens, I ride the market price up in my listings, but never list below my base price. In other words, I have a fixed price that I want to "remember" for items, but 95% of the time I never list things at that price.

    2. A few months ago I modified my version of Enchantrix to use my Auctioneer fixed prices when calculating disenchant values. This way, the disenchant value given for an item is always referenced to my "base" price. If I can bid and win an item at that price, disenchant it, and sell the mats at my base price, I should break even (minus the 5% fee) on average.

    3. Now in practice, I never bid up to the price Enchantrix gives me. This yields a set amount of profit (on average) on each item I buy to disenchant. Later, when I sell that item above my base price, I get additional profit on the sale.

For example, I value these items at the following:
    Illusion Dust: 2g
    Greater Eternal Essence: 8g50s
    Large Brilliant Shard: 6g80s

Based on those values, Enchantrix tells me that (required to wear) level 51-55 armor items have a disenchant value of 5g5s. On any given day, I can go into the auction house and bid up to 4g or so on any 51-55 items, and be guaranteed (on average) a gold of profit per item. Then, once I have the materials to auction, I see the market prices and list accordingly. For example, Illusion Dust is selling at 3g5s today on my server, so I'm making an additional gold profit on each dust I sell. That doesn't mean I want to forget my 2g "base" price for illusion dust; the price for Illusion Dust on my server was 2g20s last weekend and I'm sure it will go down next week. If I try to chase the market in my biddings, I'll end up behind every downturn.

Fixed prices seem to work differently in Appraiser. For one thing, if I have a fixed price for something, I can't seem to list that item at any other price without destroying the fixed price. In the old Auctioneer, I could list at a different price, and as long as the "Make fixed price" box was unchecked my old fixed price would remain intact, unharmed.

Now, I don't need to use the "Auctioneer fixed price" to do this. Some sort of "reference price" setting would work just fine. Just let me tell Auctioneer a price for an item, and then have that price visible somewhere when I list that item for sale. If that item is a disenchant material, have that reference price be used in disenchant calculations. (Actually, I only care about disenchant materials. I don't bother with anything else in the auction house any more.)

Is something like this already available in AuctioneerAdvanced and the Appraiser interface? Or perhaps should it be added to the suggestion list? Or does no one else do anything like this?

    Much thanks!

Enchantrix has a "fixed price" options dialog that lets you fix a price for all d/e reagents. these prices are then used for all enchantrix d/e calculations. this should do exactly what you want.

completely separately, you're right, the "fixed price" portion of appraiser behaves subtly differently than it did in auc4. there is no longer a checkbox, which has good and bad points. you never have to remember to set it, it always remembers your last fixed price. but that price also seems to disappear if you ever post an auction using a different pricing mechanism, then try to switch back. and there's no way to keep your regular fixed price, but price something differently, just this once. no promises, but maybe we'll fiddle with this going forward.

Aye, thanks! I just found this and am going to play with it. This sounds much better than the hack I had before. It took me most of a day to modify Enchantrix the last time, and I was then stuck on the same version for months. Thank you for putting in exactly the feature I need!

Reading the boards, it seems that most people didn't like the old behavior, and asked for something closer to the new behavior. Fair enough; my need is an outlier. For now I'm continuing to use the old auctioneer to post auctions so as to avoid this issue.

I got another weird behaviour with Appraiser when hitting "Refresh" while running a scan: the active scan is paused for the duration of the refresh, however instead of just unpausing when refresh finishes, it would seem that a new scan is spawned alongside the original one. This I gather because scan stats are displayed several times in a row at the end, and the scan takes much longer than usual to complete.

I would like to see an option to turn off the "mini scans" of items when you browse the AH.
I appreciate what you are doing, but I get constant 1-2 sec "lagspikes" (game freezes) when I'm browsing the AH for different items. It is very annoying.
I could easily live with the old 15-sec game freeze when a scan completed, but it's much more annoying when the game keeps locking up while you are browsing the AH.

--Returning to the system of drag and drop auctions to the posting frame is probably impossible (or un-desired by the development team), but still. I do not recall whether or not the list is sorted alphabetically, but either ways I often find it more difficult to find the item in the list than in my bag.
    -

I really, really have to agree with this. I don't use auction mules, and I often craft by demand for items to put up. This usually puts me at 3 bags of stuff for me {everyday consumables, crafting bits, my own gear, reagents, etc} that I have no intention of selling, and thus a ton of stuff to sift through in that list to find the things I do want to sell. So honestly it's incredibly frustraiting to look at that mess and want to deal with posting anything using Auctioneer. It would help if there was a way to block Auctioneer from seeing certain bags altogether. Ex ignore bag#3-5 would clean things up SOOOOO much.

I'm also not a fan of having to sidescroll the Currently Posted Competion panel thingy. It would be much easier to assess things if it were more a mirror of the CompactUI view of the main AH window, with a toggle for showing price/bid Per. Or at least if it were customizable to get rid of columns that I don't care about.

I post on both factions. I like to know what is selling for what on each side and my tooltips used to display that. No joke, on my server there are more pages of weapon auctions on alliance side than there are of total auctions on horde side. This means I often shop for things for my horde characters at the alliance auction house. When I am, it's nice to look at my tooltip and be able to compare so I know if I'm really getting a deal or not.

Last Price Sold. I don't like setting fixed prices on things that I sell a lot, but have a very volitile economy. Cut gems for example. Last Price Sold was always a nice referance point for me to use in adjusting my prices to current market VS market history. With the old Auct I could set something to a fixed price as a baseline referance, actually price it based on market and then I would have 2 factors to measure the future market against. Basically, I was using fixed price in that scenario as a stopgap for fluxuation. "I can sell GemX for 4g fairly often {last price sold}. On a bad day I can sell GemX for 2g50, which is still worthwhile {fixed price}. Prices now are at 1g75, so the market is about to flood with undercutters and it is not worth my time to try and sell GemX."

The item icon that pops up in the main AH window when you mouse over the small icon....ugh! Hate it. It is intrusive and it covers the # of items being sold. I really see no reason for it at all, please allow it to be disabled.

Price per stack. Please??? I set up my auctions first thing in the morning, while I'm working on my first coffee. I kant math in duh mornin!! If I want to sell a stack of 14 gems for 5g 25s, I don't want to have to alt-tab to windows calculator! *sheepish grin*

With the problem of finding what to sell in Appraiser...
I was having this at first too till someone mentioned you can click on the picture of an item and it'll go grey and move to the bottom of the list and it'll always be ignored by Appraiser after that.
So it took a bit of time to go "no, I never want to sell that", but now it's pretty easy.
Now I've done this I actually prefer it to looking through my bags for exactly the same reason... There's too much stuff in them and hard to find what I want, so having trimmed the Appraiser list like this it works much better.

I really enjoy the Auctioneer Advanced, but may I add some suggestions:

    1. Have the chat spam reduced to a single long line to ease clutter, a lot of the information is either extraneous, redundant, or verbose. I'd like to recommend this format:

Posting: <item> # stacks of # for 24H at total #g#s#c Bid, #g#s#c Buyout. (# items in queue)

    2. Allow us to customize what the vendor markup should be. I often like to use 450% or 500% depending on the items. In this vein, I'd like auctioneer to automatically switch to vendor markup when the default is unavailable, and go back to default when the data is available once again.

    3. Just a cosmetic issue, but I'm used to mousing over the icon of the item in the main appraiser window, trying to see the stats on the item. Allow the tooltip to be displayed there as well, with a message to (click here to prevent selling this item) as well.

    4. Have the auctioneer recognize auctions with my character's name on them. I was undercutting myself! :)

Well, there is a WoW addon that's an in-game calculator. Don't recall what it's called tho...

With that said, I love AAdv, but the appraiser rounding thing really needs to be looked at some more.

Well, it's been posted on the forums already, but maybe that just wasn't the right place. There are far too many places to post comments about AAdv IMO, but that's an entirely different topic (and is probably skewed by my distaste for forums in general anyway :fierce:).

    other suggestions:
A symbol or other way of showing the direction of the sort of a column.
While it might be easy to determine from looking at the values of the respective column, an explicit symbol also will show which column is currently used to sort the data.
Either an arrow or triangle should be ok.

GUI design isn't my forte - I don't know how easily columns can be made dynamic (i.e. reordered or hidden). I meant sorting a column (i.e. click the item column to sort by item name, or the porice column to sort by buyout, etc.).

um that feature seems to work ... although it is restricted to the current page (which Blizzard says they are changing with 2.3 - among other changes to the Auction house)
At the present clicking on a column will sort the displayed page's items by that column's values (first one direction then toggle the direction with subsequent clicks)
What it doesn't do is indicate which direction the current sort is, or if it is actually sorted at all.

Reordering and hiding of columns isn't as far as I know implemented.

the Buy Out (BO) and Starting/Current Bid (Bid) fields are currently in the same column... for me I would prefer these in different columns..
which also leads me to having the data sorted by multiple columns...
example: sorting ascending by Bid, ascending by BO, then ascending by Name

I appreciate all the work the Auctioneer team has done over the past several years. I discovered Auctioneer while deployed to Afghanistan about two years ago. My internet connection was slow so adventuring was risky. Instead of leveling I learned how to enjoy playing the AH using Auctioneer.

As for Auctioneer Advanced I really like the idea but after using it for several weeks I am returning to Auctioneer 4 for two reasons.

The first reason is the lack of a search capability. I've seen that implementing a search capability has a priority 5 in the FAQ and I'm looking forward to it being implemented but until it is I rarely want to spend the time necessary to manually review every page of a scan result to find the deals.

My second issue is the known Appraiser bug with the error "line 262: attempt to concatenate local 'curModel' (a nil value)". That happens on all of my toons on every item I click on anything in the left hand column. Again, I've seen elsewhere that the developers are aware of the problem and are working a fix but until that fix comes out I can't use that module.

So I have great data but I can't search it effectively and I can't post anything based on it. That kind of sinks my enthusiasm for the product. I have high hopes for AA as it matures, but at the current time I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

But again, thanks for the work that you've done! I code myself and I realize that while the warm fuzzy posts are nice to read those that point out weaknesses from the user's perspective are the ones which help make the end product better.

    1) Sorting items by price in the Appraiser tab. Is this supposed to be working yet?

    2) Buying items directly from the Appraiser tab. This would be awfully convenient when putting up items and noting extreme lowball prices one would like to purchase.

    3) Showing a list of the queue posting progress. Typically, I'll pop up like 20 different types of item for sale each session, with maybe 10-20 stacks of each item. Being able to queue them all without waiting for the previously queued items to finish destacking and posting is WONDERFUL. Adding a status display of some kind so I know when it has completed would be great.

1 - has been implemented, but i don't think a new build with is has been published yet. if you want to grab a (possibly unstable) dev build, you can do so here: http://zip.norganna.org/

2 - you can add a JIRA issue for this

3 - batch posting is already in progress. it should be available in a future release.

norganna, for future reference an easy way to describe AA to the end user is like this:

Auctioneer Advanced is a mr potatoe head
Outlier, Apraiser, and CompactUI are the little body parts you put on mr potatoe head, to mold him into the toy(addon) you want to meet your expections.
Without mr potatoe head's body (the framework) nothing would hold all the pieces (modules) together. and if you are experianced in programming, you can make more body parts (modules) to put on your mr potatoe head(framework) to customize him to your needs

I am a huge fan of auctioneer. I was introduced to it during my first month of playing WOW, and I consider it one of my "must have" addons. Earlier this week, I installed Auctioneer Advanced and used it for a couple of days.I have gone back to the last stable version of plain old Auctioneer (Enchantrix does not work in the current "preview" version of "classic autioneer"). These are the reasons why, starting with the most important:

    1) It does not set prices appropriately on my auctions. The module which posts auctions (called Appraiser) does not set prices below the lowest currently-listed competing auction. I would have to set this price manually, every time I list an auction. This by itself is sufficient reason for me to stick with standard Auctioneer.

    2) The tooltip for an item does not display the auction deposit and sale fees. This is essential information.

    3) Setting prices is too complicated. There are *two* "default" settings for which price scheme will be used. This makes no sense. Aside from that, no matter what I set them to, the Appraiser module picks one or the other or neither, and I can't figure out why.

    4) It's too hard to tell how much stackable items cost, both in buying and selling. If I bought a stack of mageweave in standard auctioneer, it remembered it and made it very easy for me to see if I was gaining or losing money when I listed it later. In Auctioneer Advanced, the prices show do not match what I spent, nor do they match what I am selling a stack for. Standard auctioneer was much clearer in how it displayed this information.

    5) Buying things is also too much trouble. It is so much easier to buyout something in standard auctioneer.

    6) The user interface is needlessly cluttered. I do not want to have to drag my mouses several inches back and forth across the screen when all I want is to set 2 stacks of 5 of something. I want to type "2 [TAB] 5". Tap tap tap. Done. Aside from the inconvenience, these sliders take up screen real estate that could and should be used for other things. I also do not like having a list of everything in my bags cluttering up the auction screen. I have bags, and they are set up the way I want them. I do not need a second thing on the screen taking up space with that stuff. I really just do not like the "Appraise" screen at all. The Post Auctions screen in standard auctioneer is much clearer, and much easier to use.

    7) I do not like the little icons that blow up into big icons in the auction browse screen. This is needless flash for no apparent purpose.

    8) The little side window serves no purpose, since I can never see it anyway. It is always underneath something else -- and I do not want on top of whatever else it is under, because *that* stuff is important (usually my bags).

On the plus side, I do like the color-coded display of 86%, 96%, 123%, etc. in the auction browse screen. That's handy.

I really only have *one* thing I would like added to standard auctioneer. Just one. This is the ability to clear the "fixed price" for an item. If I had that, I would not have any other requests for this excellent addon, other than to please keep it working.

the reason that it doesnt set it below the other prices as it has yet to be coded into the aadv release(not sure if its going to be). also if you haven't been scanning with aadv it will not have a a adequate database to base the prices off of. you need to scan for at least 3 days minimum i believe to get a accurate pricing model built up. Once you get use to aadv the added info is there you just have to look for it. i also did not like the new layout for aadv but once i gave it a chance and used it for like a week everyday i got use to the layout and where the info was located at. and the pricing model for aadv seems to be it takes the highest and the lowest and kinda averages them out and sticks your price in the middle someplace. Also im not a dev so im not sure exactly how the pricing models use the numbers but that is kinda what i have experienced from using it.

I agree with scartaris's comments. In general Appraiser just doesn't do it for me and useful information from tooltips has been removed. It seems that the main advantages of AucAdv are the ways in which it gathers data, the unseen backend. The ability to access and use that data remains eclipsed by Auctioneer Classic.

    1) Unlike the old Acutioneer, Appraiser doesn't tell me that competition is too low for me to post. I can see the auctions below, but I have to scan them visually and sliding back and forth is too cumbersome. I want to be able to see IMMEDIATELY whether or not I should post, what the recommended price is, how that compares to what I bought it for, and what my costs will be for posting. The old way of posting remains superior.

    2) The tooltips no longer display deposit and sale fees, nor do they display why an item was bought by BottomScanner.

    3) The color coding is useful for buying underpriced items when there are many of one item posted, like essences or ores, and even when trying to see what I might be able to outfit my toons with and get a good deal. However, the current setup, however, does not lend itself to scanning the data absent BottomScanner. The old way of scanning is much more useful (but leaves out items purchased for disencahnting or prospecting). Having a scanning module that allowed you to scan for disenchant or prospecting would be an excellent improvement. In other words, make BottomScanner static and not realtime.

Nevertheless, let me say that I am a huge fan of Acutioneer and amazed by the amount of effort gone into making it better and better.

    @ forumpeanut

    1) You do see current market values using appraiser. That is shown in the blue/green/yellow/red numbers below the item (still might be buggy at the moment). Blue = way under market value, Green = slightly below, yellow = market value, red = above market value. Recommended price = default market value setting. Costs for posting are shown on the right in the side frame.

    2) The tooltips DO display why an item was bought, your BTM might not be set up properly.

    3) Im not sure what your saying here, but if your if your looking for something that will search the current snapshot I think that is currently being developed.

From what I understand AADV is still alpha.

FoamPeanut, with Bottomscanner I suspect you don't always have it loaded.
    Regarding point 2:
I had some similar issues to you with missing tooltips, but it was because I was logging in and going to the mailbox straight away and btm wasn't loaded until I'd gone to the AH, so nothing was there.
I suggest you try "/btm load always" on all your characters. Since doing that I can only recreate 1 situation where tooltips don't turn up. If you buy 2 of something and 1 of something and then combine the stacks the stack of 3 will _not_ show the tooltip. Hmmm... I haven't tried splitting it back up into the right sizes to see if the tooltip comes back. It's on my list of things to personally fix seeing it bugs me!

Actually, I'd suggest the default options for btmscan be changed, because this confusion is going to come up _all_ the time. I'd suggest the default changes to automatically load at the mailbox as well as the auction house. These options should also be easily changable through the option screen instead of having to use text commands.

    Hmmm...

As for point 3... I'm not completely sure of the current behaviour because I almost always have BottomScanner turned on...
Bottomscanner turned on will automatically run through any other searches you do and tell you the good deals, the problem is that it keeps trying to rescan the end of the AH and for longer searches this is problematic...
What I feel like you are asking for is an option for Botttomscanner to do it Evaluations of what you are searching through but _not_ do the scanning of the end of the Auctionhouse.
I know there is an option for BTM to just look through whatever searches you are doing, but I suspect you need to actively turn btm on for that to work (though I'm not sure).
So yeah, I think the default behaviour for that option should be to always enable the BTM evaluation side of things, but not turn on the actual bottomscanning until you click the btmscan play button. (And that should be the buttons only function, to turn on or off the bottom scanning.)

    (Lots of thinking out loud!)

Perhaps it's only seen 20 in the last 5 days but has seen more before that?

    I'm not sure.
The one thing I did notice is that the "times seen" is Evaluator independant. When I made my own evaluator and was testing it I actually had to turn that option off, because while I'd seen the items lots of times that specific evaluator had never seen them before...

I notice either something is missing or I'm completely incompetent... I can't seem to find any replacement for custom search from the previous auctioneer.

A nice custom search set for things 1g under market value is gorgeous and great for profiting off the auction house... And I can't mimic its behavior easily anymore.

Also, why is the old trade algorithm dead? Auctioneer may have been the main influence on the value of stuff, and a big part of that was the buyout prices 5% lower than before...now it seems that you almost always default buyouts to exactly equal to the current market...

I'd love ot see the custom search return, and an option of the old buyout algorithm.

Thanks for listening to my useless comments :)

Text on AH window too small for me.

While I like the Auctioneer classic, and miss it's working fully with the latest WoW patch, I know I can get used to this new Auctioneer Advanced. Just one problem, the text in the AH window is smaller than it used to be, and I find it hard to read. I am sure I am not the only one to have this problem, and hope the developers take into consideration that not all the players of WoW are under 30 and have perfect vision. I know there is alot of information to put into a small space, but please consider allowing users a way to increase the text size, even if it means reducing the amount of information on a given window.

I hope the developers get this information and take it into account.

have you tried disabling compactui? I have never disabled it but this seems to be the common responce for vision issues, I use a 1900x screen resolution with compact ui enabled and have never thought anything was to small... and I play without my glasses and I have *terrible* vision :P but I do play on a nice wide screen lcd or on my laptop, still never had any problems hehe check out the compact ui option see if it helps any

I checked FAQ for further details. I do not seem to have that button available, so do not yet know if that is what I need to do. Anyone know if there is another way to disable compactui?

Also, I never had a problem reading anything in WoW until today - after installing Auctioneer Advanced, so I still think that the developers might want to consider the amount and layout of information given based on comments given by others. It seems that while other players like some of the new features, they miss the clear user friendly ways of Auctioneer classic. I personally would love to see the best of the classic interface brought into the new Auctioneer - even as a seperate tab - so I can use the interface I love, and still take advantage of the power that Auctioneer Advance is supposed to offer. (I have not played with it enough to experience it myself, but plan too as soon as I fix my reading problem)

i'm not sure what else you'd like for me to say, elario. we know some users want larger text. we want to provide that functionality to you, as mentioned in the FAQ. for the moment, though, it is not as high a priority to us as getting some other promised functionality out.

if you think you might want to help out with developing, and this is an important issue for you, then by all means come to IRC and join the team. otherwise, we'll get to it as soon as it becomes the most important thing for one of the current dev's to work on.

Its not a button its a check box in one of the config ui's I believe you get to it from appraiser *CONFIGURE* button but I cant login right now to check I just got a new tablet (never had one before but have wrist / finger issues so trying to get something less pain-full as I work with computers all day long.) and I'm trying to install it onto my linux boxes and properly configure synergy to not freak out with it switching between windows and linux boxes (I use about three computers at a time on avg lol) but its in there just take a look around. or try searching the forum for *config ui* option or something

I thank everyone so much for taking time on my issue. I understand there are higher priority items to address, and again thank you for letting me know that while this may not be on the top of the list, it is on there and being thought about. I personally have no programming skills, or I would happily join in developing this further. If I manage to find a solution on my own, I will certainly post it, but in the meantime, thank you again for you time, efforts and thoughts. Update. :heartsabove: I found the configure button that allowed me to fix the text in the AH window. I don't know if i was blinder than I thought, simply missed it(my bet :shamed: ), or, (since I saw there was already -in less than 12 hours mind you - a newer version of Auctioneer Advanced and downloaded it to use instead), It's just now there, but I found the button in the appraiser window and am a much happier camper. Thanks again to everyone who spent time to help me. And thanks again for a product that so improves my AH experience. I did not realize how much it was doing for me until I lived a day without full functionality. :cheer: May your tendons and muscles never ache again.

try using in the standard chatbox
    /run AuctionFrame:SetScale(1.2)
maybe a larger value than 1.2 .. (the default is 1.0)
    you might also consider
    /run EnhancedTooltip:SetScale(1.2)
and various other similar SetScale options

There is a "Use UI scale" in WoW video config makes the overall zoom larger/smaller.

I finally switched to Advanced yesterday because of 2.3. I'm very impressed with the capabilities of Appraiser and can see the potential of Advanced. But as a longtime (2 year) user of Classic, I have two comments/requests:

    1. As far as I can tell, Advanced drops the "Search" tab feature of Classic, so I can no longer set up custom searches for specific items that I buy regularly, like flasks and ore. I very much miss the ability to set up my routine "shopping list".

    2. With Classic, I could organize all the items in my bags into mental categories (items for weekend auctioning, items for weekday auctioning, items for later transfer to alts, etc.) and then rapidly post them just by alt-clicking within each organized group and typing the stack amount/number. The new interface of Appraiser for setting up auctions is glitzy, but is really slowing down the time it takes for me to post auctions. Alt-click posting is gone, so I must use the Appraiser window--which puts *everything* in my bags in one gloppy, unorganized pane where I can only see a fraction of my items at a time. And instead of just quickly typing amount numbers, I must do a *lot* of precise mouse clicking and dragging on small sliders, which some may prefer but which I suspect many do not. It would be nice to still have the traditional alt-click means of posting as an alternative. It worked great.

Thanks as always for your incredible product.

the UI scale in the video config effects all elements .. the command line I mentioned can be used in conjunction to make the sections you think are more important larger and or the other bits smaller .. depending on personal preferences

Just installed and well lets just says it's something new and trying to get used to it. I've noticed that now that when you move your cursor over a item say in your bags that it no longer shows you the auctioneer's suggestions of what the item would go for if it's seen it, has this feature been taken out? Is there a way to import from the old classic database to the new one? I also noticed that the Classic 5.0 version isn't showing the correct length of time for the auctions.

Anyway i'll give this new thing a bit more time.

Thirded :) I am sure the new one will come into its own soon enough ....just takes time for the Devs to get everything working properly while trying to please everyone at the same time. I used to only log onto WoW just to whore the AH ... nothing else... i sat at lvl 68 for 8 months and didn't care because i had fun playing the AH. I remember when either 2.1 or 2.2 came out as well the recent (2.3) i wouldn't even play because Auctioneer wouldn't work properly lol. Auctioneer plays a very big part in my enjoyment when playing WoW and I appreciate the hard work everyone has and does put forth.
