I love the new Heads Up Display! One feature suggestion: Toggle on/off when mounting/dismounting. I only use it when I'm mounted and I'd like to automatically toggle it off when dismounting and toggle it on when mounting. If there's a way I can script/macro this, please let me know.

    Thanks!

There's not really a way to script this, but I would be glad to add it as an option.

    Congratulations! The hud is smart!
Just one small request: What about a keybound for generally toggling the hud on/off?
It´s just because one of my "gatherers" is a Paladine and you know those fights can last a bit when playing a Holy...

The HUD indeed rocks. 10000 points to the guy who came up with the idea.

And like Trahnor, it would be nice to have an command-line option like /gather hud to toggle it on and off. I can imagine some situations where you want to turn it off quickly (e.g. a fight) and afterwards turn it on quickly again.

I agree the HUD is phenomenal. A couple suggestions:
-Increase the max duration the trail stays visible, maybe double the current max, and possibly even a checkbox for it to never disappear
-Allow the ability to record a trail, then load it upon entering a zone.

    Rationale:
It takes FAR less brainpower for me to follow a set trail that I have created than it does to try and figure out how to best hit all the nodes every time im flying in the area.

    Thanks!!

    I also agree. its wonderful.
one thing i was wondering is if it is possible to make it so the yellow dots from tracking skills show up on the HUD aswell.

Very much agreed on the need for a /gatherer hud toggle, or preferably just a keybind for it. It's a pain right-clicking the minimap button, maybe lagging a little as that screen fills out if you've not entered something to search for, clicking config, clicking hud, clicking to toggle it showing....

Has there been some thought into displaying "hot" nodes in the HUD as well as ones I've visited? I have to admit that I'm pretty lazy which is why the HUD appeals to me, but if I'm looking at the HUD and not the minimap I miss any new nodes in the area I'm moving through.

Great enhancments this time round, bravo!

Not really sure what you're talking about with "hot" nodes...

Ahh, in that case, it's not possible, I'm afraid. The question has been asked before, and I'm sure it will be asked again. Unfortunately the answer doesn't change.

Believe me... if it was possible, I would do it.

This (mounted/dismounted) is now in as an option in the trunk (development) version of Gatherer, as is in-combat, targeting, flying, swimming, stealthed, resting and inside. So whenever Esamynn next builds a new version, that's when you'll have it.

Also the miniicon will be shift-clickable to just disable/reenable the HUD at will.

God I'm glad this got added. Was tired of my AlphaMap/Gatherer hacks.

    I have some requests/suggestions, though:

    1. HUD >needs< strata control. Some people might like their herbs on top of their other addon frames, myself not so much (covers my quest addon's watch frame for one). Would like to have that at the bottom of the frame strata stack. *begs*

    2. Possibility of adding a detection radius on the HUD? *drool*

    3. The blue blip in the center should be optional. Becomes annoying after a bit of time.

    4. Your post also mentioned flying... Does this also mean when you are on a taxi (bat/griff)? If not, that is my other suggestion. If I'm on a flight master taxi, there's no reason to have the HUD up :p

    Another suggestion for the HUD:
Be able to control what gets shown on the HUD. It seems to currently show anything on the overland map as well as a heat path. As with the minimap, it can be useful to only show certain types of gather nodes, or none at all (only the path), as the minimap already shows where the nodes are.

I will echo this request. Love the tool. Whole guild uses it. But you only really use the HUD at certain times. Perhaps add a command line like /gather hud [on|off|toggle] so I could create a macro to toggle my HUD. Thanks for the great code!!

In the next version you will be able to CTRL-Click the Minimap icon to toggle the HUD display.

Is it possible to change the opaqueness of an icon over age as well as over distance?
In other words: The further away the lesser visible it becomes (is already part of it, but like somebody already posted it would be nice to have the distance configurable)
But also the longer ago a node was harvested, the less visible it is in the HUD (only in the HUD) (but never invisible for these, since you still want to know where they are). In this way you can see which nodes might be worth to visit, since they were visited long ago. And when you are in the neighbourhood of such a node you can take a look in your minimap to see if it is "ripe" (yellow dot).
  1.
How difficult would it be to add an option that shows your current heat trail information on the map itself (read: not mini-map, but the regular map) ?

The HUD heat trails are fairly taxing on system resources to low-end users, but the functionality is so nice. I would imagine that adding a heat trail to the map would be much less costly, and a great option for those who don't have the best computers.
  2.
Go ahead and add a Jira issue for this, thanks!

    Awesome work guys!

anyway - in the change to 3.1.1 it looks like the nodes to display is using the minimap filters rather than just hud radius
I looked at the code and the variable fetch looks ok.. but the number of nodes shown on the hud is affected by the show closest xx items
(is this the "for i = private.curNode+1, private.maxNode do" loop?)

Esamynn has indicated multiple times in other threads that there have been no changes to the way HUD gets nodes to display in recent versions, meaning that if it's doing this now, it's likely it was always doing it. I can't speak with any certainty here, as I don't use the HUD, there you have it.

I'll go find these threads and contribute there - but the behavior definately changed (I've been using the hud ever since it came out - and last week it shows lots of nodes, this week, only a very few right around my location. not a subtle change)
Thanks - off to the other threads!
