If this is not the correct place to post this message, I hope an admin will move it to the proper forum area.

I've used auctioneer since December 06' and more recently, Auctioneer Advanced Beta. I want to make some suggestions for the Advanced version. There are 2 glaring items that stand out above the rest that I miss desperately from the 4.X version:

    1. The appearance of both the stack sales price and per item price concurrently ( I believe as separate sortable fields ).
    2. Remembering an item's last auction house sales price and posting it in the high buyout and starting price fields.

I do not care much for using the check box switch to toggle "either" the per stack price or the per item price. I prefer the old way where both the stack and item prices are shown side by side. Depending on the popularity of an item, the popularity of particular stack sizes, and how quickly they sell will effect where I will set my own price. I just find seeing both prices side by side along with the stack count cuts the amount of time I spend making hand calculations and subsequently waste in the AH.

I accidently sold a bunch of Netherweave Spider Silk at 60c shortly after installing the beta. The first time I sold the Item I entered the fields per usual. When I came back later to sell more, I failed to watch closely what I was doing. End result: I sold 50g worth if Spider Silk for roughly 6g. Now I feel like I have to look over my shoulder whenever I post items for sale.

I'll post more observations as I work with it more.

    @ gandafor

RE: #1 - Im not so sure what your talking about, could you post a screenshot?
RE: #2 - aadv does not alter the standard blizzard post auction tab anymore, you should use appraiser

If you look under duration, there is a pulldown menu. Default is set to market price, which aadv will fill automatically. If you manually change the price to the right, the pricing model will change to fixed price (seen in screenshot). This value is remembered until you manually change the price again. That should be what you are looking for.

    hmm feature request?

being able to search/filter/whatever for exact quality of item .. thus I should be able to search for say green (uncommon) items,
instead of the current 'this quality or better' option

    other search parameters would be
    profession skill ranges
    (example: 100 < alchemy < 140)

    bag slot sizes
(example 14 slot would be Troll-hide Bag, Darkmoon Storage Box, Journeyman's Backpack, Draenic Leather Pack, Runecloth Bag (there are 2 other 14 slot bags: Thawpelt Sack, & Explorer's Knapsack but both are BOP which makes finding them in AH difficult)

    item level
(currently you can only do level required)

    item property
    (such as > +10 healing, > +5 attack bonus, > +10 Stamina, etc)

I think I (and/or others) have mentioned some of these before.

I think instead of profit above requirements it should just be something like total profit, cause with profit above requirements you have to remember what you set your value to and someone (like me) who changes there values like every day cant always remember what you set it to.

Matt, I agree totally, you are interested in cost and profit and probably percentage profit.
The thresholds you set are to weed out things you don't want to look at in the first place, but whether something is 1s above requirements or 50s above requirements doesn't matter after that, your decision to buy is based on how much money you have, the percentage profit and the "risk" of being able to resell it. (ie. Vendor has no risk, Disenchanting has a little risk and resale has a variable risk based on demand for the item)

My personal desire (posted elsewhere, but also belongs here in design) is a btmscan window something like:

    Do you want to purchase:
    [Metalworking Gloves] x1
    Seller: Ctrlaltdel, Remain: 24h
    Buyout Price: 6 00
    Disenchant valuation estimate: 24 92 (315%) {IGNORE Disenchant} {Purchase for Disenchant}
    Resale valuation estimate: 25 44 (x%) {IGNORE Resale} {Purchase for Resale}
    Vendor valuation estimate: 2 59 (-x%})
    {Ignore permanently}{Don't buy at this price}{Buy for self}

With a list of valuations and a choice to buy it for anything that is over your thresholds (The things in curly brackets are buttons). So that way if vendoring it is a 5% profit but disenchanting it is only a 6% profit and resale is a 10% profit then you probably want to buy it for vendoring most likely because that is the surest bet.
(Well, that would be my personal reasoning anyway!)

    ok while testing Auctioneer-ALL-r2383.zip with Gatherer-r661.zip & Libs-ALL-r28.zip

I noticed I have the colours appearing on most of the items on the Appraiser tab .. but Soul-Drain Dagger of the Elder (Link: 25302:0:0:0:0:0:-44:10187757139) is showing up as plain white text - other item Large Venom Sac (Link: 1288:0:0:0:0:0:0:676495259) while it shows 4 / 1 the seller list has it 1 red, 3 green and 1 blue.

And off-topic ... the disenchantment information doesn't seem to show - even though enchantrix and informant show up as loaded - I wasn't on my enchanter alt... so I'm not sure that is the problem.. but with the other versions it didn't bother the display of the information.

hmm on checking with one of my enchanters the are now all blue and not showing the correct colours on the Appraiser tab ... but are ok on the Browse tab

ok I think I found the cause.. PriceLevel: Price level basis: was set at "Next bid price"... when I changed it to "Buyout or bid" the colours corrected themselves - yes .. stepping through the 3 options for the settings it looks like "Buyout only" & "Buyout or bid" work and "Next bid price" is buggy.

the disenchanting info still doesn't show.. even with changing the Value Display Options in the General Enchantrix options config page. .. correction ... it doesn't show on all items... looks like I was originally just looking at my level 70 items - Valanos' Longbow etc... but it shows the info for the other items I checked (now).. (hmm the only thing I did was toggle off all the ticks then reenable them. - the bow doesn't show up.)

As a random comment, the screen shot is actually my screen that Gil pulled from a different post. I can't say exactly which version this is, since I was dumping dev versions of different components and then backing out the ones that were causing Swatter to scream. In general, it's not a tactic that I recommend to the faint of heart.

I have been getting some incompatibility issues with other mods.. which I am still looking into. but it might be delayed.. I still haven't done my daily quests.

what I think I have noticed is that the disenchantment and prospecting info doesn't show up in the tooltip if the character doesn't have the profession.. which is inconvenient. (here refering to the Auctioneer-ALL-r2383.zip, Gatherer-r661.zip & Libs-ALL-r28.zip builds)

I think i postd i that screenshot to show someone how to save their prices..

@ meow - i think you should post your bug findings on the technical forums.
  1.
Would it be possible to add the ability to buy items that are on the appraiser page? Sometimes I buy items that are posted too much below the going price when i sell stuff.

Also, I donno if I missed an option or anything but being able to choose what order the appraiser window columns are in, usually I'm only interested in buyout per and bid per. If I could move them I would put item and seller on the far right so I'd never see it unless I really had to.

The stack size bar in the appraiser window is too hard to control, you should have a secondary text entry option, or put a single arrow button on either side of your slider so you can change it if it doesn't drop right for you (ever try to sell stacks of 20 marks of sargeras when you have 200 or so?)

The auction detail window ought to give a list for a single item, if I'm looking at price per item I find it easier to look at deposit per item, also it'd be nice if that listed net gains rather than gross (have a line for gold recieved after AH fees)

hopefully all of this isn't in the options or a dev version (I'm running 2319)

I'm new here, and not sure that this is the place this should go:

I love the work you guys have done with Auctioneer and Auctioneer Advanced. I have been a user for over a year, and it is amazing to me how well the whole things works and how well the whole thing hangs together.

One thing I've found myself doing over and over, in setting a price for selling something, is comparing with similar items. For example, "pirate hat of the puppy" may not have much information on it, but "pirate hat of the eagle", "pirate hat of the wolf", "pirate hat of power" may have much information collected. This applies whether I look for historical data or current items being auctioned.
So I'll type in "pirate hat of the puppy" in the browse window, find nothing listed, go back to the text "pirate hat of the puppy", hit the "end" button, and erase enough characters to end up with "pirate hat", then search again. This way I can see listings and prices of various "pirate hat"s with different bugs.
I do this so often, and presume other people do to, that I'd love to see a button that automatically strips all the text starting with space-o-f-space from whatever is in the text window.

What do you think of this?

you can add a request for that, but I'm not sure if it would be a high priority. for that matter, the different suffices can mean drastic differences in pricing, so i'm not sure you'd really want to base your "of the pirate" item pricing in any way on what the rest of the suffices sell for.

    Hello,

First Gather it replaced by Gathermate, don't know if it where you but, the memory and performance gain is remakrable!
So I am only writing for aadv

    1) What do you like most about the aadv interface and options

    The Color-Coding for the best-prices
    The smaller fonts

    2) What do you like least about the aadv interface and options, and why

As it seems it is not in ACE and you are also not going to rethink/rewrite (even if it is a herculian-work).

I used aadc one, it was horrible, ineffectiv way of approch like the thinking of managers and programmers (I only point to way the world is going, that should be enough).

So the use of sliders instead the buttons!
    No description of the field
at the bottom line you only replaced the good old classic view! The full programming effert could have been done in optimizing the code/decoumentation/optimize the classic view.

    3) What function can you not live without

    The appraiser!

    4) What function do you use the least

    The appraiser!

    5) If you use /slash commands, which do you use the most

    Scan hole auctionhouse

    6) If you were to be an animal, what animal would you be

    Dog!

    Well as you wanted:
    (sorry) the Flame ;)
What the heck are you thinking: You are microsoft and pushing all to use aadv when all the features can be implemented in the classic for the most people?
I am sure the only people using the aadv are you, the few 500-1000 programmers out there and some freaks, the rest is using the old one and only to have some features is FORCED to install the aadv!
    Sit down, six!

    the suggestions:
I for my part (as 2-lvl-sprt) think:
Moving to ACE, a huge job, but it is saddly the job of the programmers not the of anyother one ... ;)
Use the old view, as everyone has to use it and evolve to acutioneer.
Under the screen, using the new superior code of aadv and the features!
Therefor there is no need to write two applications with the same goul. Merging is the new magic word ;)

    the ideas:
    moving to ACE
maybe a real replacement of the auction-screen (trancparency and other features)
implemeting the aadv database to classic
making aadv to write to multiple db-files: ?
    aadv-white-db.lua
    aadv-green-db.lua
    aadv-blue-db.lua
    In the search auctions:
implement to see only the items of the same color: only blues, greens, whites, etc
    In the dbs:
both highest and lowest price ever seen for an object
    Vendor objekts limits:
permanent objekts never go higher than xxx% maybe a real limit here to stop spamming
respwn objekts never go higher than xxx% ? don't know
    In the view:
to honor the appraiser-users: a 2 or 3 step approch to the view from beginner to advanced or loadable views

    The comments:
THANKS for you exellent work, using your talents and time to write the application.
I still wonderin how you still can play the game !

    @Ra:
re: moving to Ace, not going to happen. I'm not going to go into the reasons why, because a forum search will show you that it's been hashed out many times already

re: Implementing the features into Classic, also not going to happen. Classic's big problem is the sv size is limited, and people are reaching that limit faster with each patch that adds items. Also the code in classic is hard to figure out what's going on, so a lot of the devs (most of whom joined since AucAdv started) are hesitant to dive into it.

re: real replacement of the auction interface. Probably not going to happen. The Blizz Interface provides a nice framework for the GUI, and also offers bug-testing, as we can see whether an item not posting is our fault or Blizz's fault.

Therefor there is no need to write two applications with the same goul. Merging is the new magic word ;)
We aren't writing two applications. We are supporting the old application as we get AucAdv fully functional, and we plan to eventually kill Classic.

re: multiple db files, that's not possible. WoW gives us one savedvariable file per toc, which is one of the reasons why AucAdv is modular instead of all in one folder, like Classic

    In the search auctions:
implement to see only the items of the same color: only blues, greens, whites, etc
    SearchUI will have filters

re: limits, AucAdv has outlier filters to prevent price poisoning.

Re: the multiple layouts of Appraiser, that has already been discussed in dev chat, and we are planning on going that way. (Though the current interface is likely to be the "default" or "simple" interface)
