I've been running Classic and Advanced side by side for a long time now. I rely very heavily on alt-shift-click for rapid posting, and I only post auctions when I see the little green "No competition" line. Replicating the same thing with AuctioneerAdvanced in the Appraiser window is about 20 times slower. Advanced is improving rapidly, but it's just not there yet for me. :-)

Alas, it looks like Classic is on its death throes. I've been wincing at the little warnings about my database filling up for over a month now, and today it crept up over 99% full.

What is going to happen when the database fills up? Does the mod break irreparably, or is it still sort of usable? Is there an easy way to clear out big swaths of useless data without clearing the database entirely?

Heh, mine jumped from 70% to 90% yesterday... The 48 hour auctions have increased some of the stored data a lot...

I suggest you back up your SV files before they reset on exceeding 100% .. and make sure you back up after every successful data save.

Since I run both Classic and Advanced most of the time I've just stopped scanning with Classic now, it seemed safer...

I can't stop doing Classic scans yet. Or rather, I can, but it makes my auction house routine like an hour longer every day. Classic's posting interface is way more efficient for the kind of trade I'm doing (zillions of recipes, blues, and epics). Appraiser has an edge in stackable items, but that's not most of what I make my money in.

rodgort - If you're looking for the alt-shift-click posting functionality to speed up appraiser, it has been added.

If that's not what's holding you back, please let us know. We want people to feel like AucAdv is a benefit, not a hindrance.

the options for reducing your SV size are documented in the auc4 FAQ. unfortunately, for some they are not enough.

note that our calc on how full your file is isn't exact - we've had people with >100% reported. but it's reasonably close.

I saw the bit about click hooks being implemented, but it didn't seem to be working for me this morning. I'm assuming that I was doing something wrong, and I'll play with it a bit more.

Once I figure that out, Auctioneer Classic will really only have one appeal for me any more. I really liked the prominent line of text right under the old Auctioneer display that said in green: "No competition," or in yellow, "Undercutting by 5%," or in red: "Unable to undercut." I've found that most of the trick to making money is patience - being willing to wait to list my items until there isn't any low-priced competition. So I'd quickly mouseover my whole inventory, waiting for a green, and alt-shift-click to autolist the item. Since I list maybe 300-400 items a day, and probably make around 100 purchases and 100 sales, I'm a big fan of efficiency. Appraiser gives me the same information, in the color-coded numbers, but it's just slower for me to process than the old text was.

    Thanks!

The way I have my pricelevels and undercut set up, anything Yellow and above I'll undercut. Orange starts at marketprice, so I can see at a glance which items I'll be undercutting above marketprice, and which down.

So I just go through my Appraiser listing, and skip over anything that starts with a green or a blue number. (I go from bottom to top, so I can select the next item without Appraiser selecting that item, making it deselect)

The only extra info I look for is whether I've got an auction of that item already, and where it is in the list.

To answer the question, your saved variables for that addon are reset. So although the addon itself doesn't break, you lose all history.

AA is more robust because it's broken up into separate addons for snapshot, history, interface etc., so even if one addon fills up and dies, the rest will live.

It's quite easy to try. Look on WarcraftRealms for the busiest servers in your region, join Alliance on a dozen or so, and scan. :)

mine were routinely getting above 90% and had been for well over a year ... thus the structure with AA was very welcome.
not sure but I think I noticed 'classic' has decreased to about 50% ...or at least to a point where it doesn't seem to complain.
