    Following problem:

I installed the Auctioneer classic suite and scanned the whole auction house. Now i would like to search auctions under the "Search Auctions" tab but
nothing happens. I already set the minimum profit to 1 copper but no auction or item is showing up, nothing. No matter what settings, Buyout, Comparison, Item, Bids..
Minimum profit 1 Gold or 1 Copper...
When i hit the search button WoW just stuck for a second an thats it.
I already disabled every other addons except auctioneer but no changes at all.
What am i doing wrong? Some secret trick? Its been a while since i used auctioneer the last time but that was the way i remember it to use it and it worked.
    Thanks for help.

Can you confirm you finished scanning the AH and received the standard message with total number of items on the AH, changed/updated, etc.? Also, how full is your SavedVariables file? You should see that message when you log in in a percentage, like "Your Auctioneer SavedVariables file is XX.XXX? Full."

I've used the Search Auctions function just today with the new build 2778 and I'm not seeing this issue.
  1.
I have the exact same problem with the new 2778 build. I even did the 1coppper search. Changed and New were like 14000: updated and defunct were 0. I had even deleted everything of the old auctioneer including saved variables which is now at .029%. Actually I was having the same problem ever since the new patch and was hoping 2776 would fix it but it didn't.

Do you have a Swatter report from which you can list your existing AddOns? Assuming Swatter is loaded, type /swat show to give the most recent error you've had. From that you can copy out your list of AddOns. It won't matter if the error doesn't pertain to Auctioneer, I just need to see the list.
  2.
well I totally deleted all addons and wtf file. Had to resign agreement. still had same problem i didnt get any errors using "/swat show" it just isnt showing any search items. its like the file that is supposed to have items to search is blank.

OK, that just means Swatter didn't have any errors in its list. That's not unusual if you don't run with a lot of AddOns, but over time you should get one here or there. I'm not having this issue myself, so I'm a bit stumped for a solution.
  3.
I'd like to second this post. I just updated to the latest version, performed a classic scan, but when I used the search tab to check out the latest bids nothing was there. I checked the search for buyouts and there was nothing there. No errors were generated. Is there more I can do to provide more info on this?

I don't personally use classic at all so I'm unable to check anything on this particular issue. I'm sure another dev that has classic will get the chance to post a response on this issue when they get a chance to.

okay I'm back in there testing. I've logged out of the game. Deleted the old folders and put the new ones back in there. (sorry didn't delete the SV files - ya know it hurts to do that btw). It seems like auctioneer has actually responded to the search query but there is no text in the window. I see on the bottom "results are xx minutes old." I'm going to keep playing here to see if this is a "fluke."

I am also seeing a similar error, I get auction results in the Search Auctions tab, but they are over 24 hours out of date. When I was running Auctioneer Classic 2778 by itself it worked fine, but now it seems not to do a search. This is the first time I've run Classic and Advanced at the same time in quite awhile, does doing a scan with Advanced allow you to search with Search Auctions? Or does it only work when doing a Classic scan?

    I'm confused.

In order to search using Search Auctions (part of Classic), you need to scan with Classic. Advanced will scan while Classic is scanning, but not vice versa...I'm 95% sure I'm right there. :-)

Personally, I have always used Classic, with Advanced running also, and intend to continue doing so until the Search function for Advanced is written (which I'm really looking forward to!). However, 2778 seems to have broken Classic in several ways...Search doesn't work at all, and Post fails to see the current auctions that were just scanned. Refreshing (once, on a single item) appears to load properly. However, changing items (I didn't post) shows poisoning with some auctions from the previous item shown alongside the new item.

AC is currently completely unusable for me.

Just to hop in here I can confirm you must be scanning with AC for AC to use the data, AC doesn't know how to piggy back like AA does, AA captures data anytime it sees it, while scanning or not. Whereas AC doesn't understand the concept of getting data outside of scans (to my understanding)

But now i got at new problem, at least i think it is on with following error after scanning:

In the chatbox it says scan complete but this errorbox is showing up.
And when i change to the search tab the search results are now more than 800 minutes old, ist that normal? i installed auctioneer last night and i think thats the time between my first scan and now. How to solve that?

you are using r2662 you need to download the latest preview release, I do believe theres a sticky that specifically says 'AA and AC r2778 now available - please update if you have SetUIPanel or strsplit() errors'

Okay I'm back in here testing.....grrr I got logged out now I have to retype my post....

When I deleted these folders (any folder starting with Auc-, btmscan, beancounter, auctioneer), copied the newer versions of them back in, and then performed a classic scan the search results were displayed in the search windows. Therefore I conclude it must be something windowz is/is not doing when one copies over existing folders and files.

Ooops forgot to say that I will be replicating these steps on the other 'puter to see if all is repeatable.

seach still doesnt work even though i have deleted every trace of auctioneer and every other addon.

Enough people seem to be having trouble with search in the latest Classic release that it needs to be looked into.

Could you please create a Jira ticket for this. (Just check that noone else has done it first.)

    Thanks.

I just wanted to add that on my other computer I did the delete and recopy thing, but the text from the classic search is not visible. So displaying search works on one machine but not on the other.

Ok, here's hoping this will add to the solution, not to the confusion...:-)

Another screenie of my ongoing efforts to get something working, did a scan (the 2nd I think, after wiping my SV) and tried to post an item. As you can see, Alt-Clicking on a recipe for Brilliant Smallfish displayed an auction for Felsteel Gloves in the Post Auctions tab. Not sure exactly what those Bean 0 xxxx entries in the chat window are, maybe something I disabled years ago and forgot about. :-) Seemed to pop up every time I Alt-Clicked on an item.

I might be out of line, but...the bad prices, and the failed searches makes me wonder...has anyone had a closer look at strsplit?

I think I'll try renaming my whole WTF tree, since removing that worked for someone, and then I'll try removing AA and install AC only...at which point I'm just gonna give up and wait for the devs to work out what's going on.

Anyway, completely removing (renaming) my WTF tree did nothing except make a complete mess of my UI, and doing it a second time, wiping all Auc addons folders, and installing AC only had no effect either (and I disabled all other addons that time too).

Something's broke, badly...can't think of anything else I can try, so I'm gonna go back to work now.

Hi, we don't know what's happening with the Search problems in Classic at the moment. It may be to do with how we fixed the StrSplit problem.
We should get time to look into it more over the weekend. (Unfortunately many of the devs have fulltime jobs, so during we week we work on small stuff sometimes but most of the bigger problems take a weekend...)

You all have been taking a little too much heat lately. Sigh. I love the product. I do look forward to fixes, new releases and new features, but I never expect them over night or even over a week. I expect that they will come when they're ready. I'd rather have quality than quantity.

And just to add I only have the problem on the search results not displaying on 1 computer. On the other it's just fine, and both are at the latest release. I don't know what is under the hood here but could this (StrSplit) really be the problem when it works on one machine and not the other? What is different is that one machine has one server's data and the other another server's data. I could upload the different auctioneer files if that would help.

Hmmm... Actually... One useful test in that case...
Backup your data files and then swap them over on the machines... See if the problem follows the datafiles or stays on the separate machines.
  10.
Will do. I have to run out right now but should have something posted later today.
  11.
So far it's not looking too good. I backed up all SV folders. I deleted from my SV folder all the Auc-, auctioneer, beancounter, and btmscan lua's and baks. Then I replaced them with the ones from the computer where the search data shows. I performed a scan. No data was visible. The only thing showing is the text at the bottom that says how old the search results are. I then reloaded with the basic of mods (Auctioneer, chat mod , & unitframe mod). There was no change - no search results are displaying. I'm now going to remove all auctioneer associated lua's and bak's and perform a minimal reload again. Okay that didn't work either. When the other computer is free I will repeat what I did on my computer.

If they are connected over a network and you have the diskspace, you could also try moving the _entire_ WoW directory over (actually you can probably share it over the network and just run it) and try running the exact same install where the search works on the other computer. That might be too much work though, you don't have to.

I just wanted to post real quick that I was able to "fix" this. The short version is this. My original Auctioneer.lua file had been either overwritten (not by me that is for sure) or replaced with a new one on 9 Jan 2008. When I took what was my original one, renamed it from .bak to a straight .lua the search problem was fixed. What I want to do is put them back the way they were and see if it breaks the search results. I'll post later.
  13.
Alrighty. I switched the files back to the way I found them, did a classic scan, and there are no search results. I put my old auctioneer.lua back in place, do a classic scan and I see search results. To the untrained eye the differences between the files is not obvious (excluding the size and date). Shall I post the files for further inspection?

I tried the suggestion posted by Dinesh in the Inaccurate Prices / Bad Data thread: disable BTM Scanner, rescan, and check for price goofiness.

The pricing anomolies seem to have disappeared, but that could be due to multiple scans in one day. However, the Search Auctions tab seems to work now.

Umm I uploaded my files for the dev's to evaluate in helping to squash this pesky bug not for others to use as their own. Not to mention that Auctioneer2.lua is the bad one and isn't named correctly therefore not recognizable by Auctioneer. BTW I don't think my stuff will work for anyone unless they are on my server.

I would suggest looking in your saved variables folder found under the WTF folder. Look to see if you have an Auctioneer.lua.bak file and a Auctioneer.lua file. Rename the Auctioneer.lua file something else (e.g. auctioneer-old.lua). Then make a copy of the Auctioneer.lua.bak. Rename the copy of Auctioneer.lua.bak to Auctioneer.lua Start up WoW. Head to AH and perform a Classic scan. Then go to the search tab and perform the search of your choice. If you see search results come back here and let the dev's know.

You have to perform the classic scan before seeing search results. Without it nothing will be reported because there is nothing to report.

When I accept that, it creates a much smaller file as a replacement. Scanning at this point seems create a new scan history. Items show as having been scanned 3 time instead of thousands. if you have a mac, using the .bak file may be OK, since it should be a recent backup.

if you have a PC, the bak file will almost certainly be useless, coming from the day you first installed and ran auctioneer. i would NOT recommend that fix if you run on a PC.

After updating AC, I could not get fully into WoW. I would get to the character loading screen and crash every time.
I saved my WTF folder as a backup and created a new WTF folder. Loaded up without a problem.
I then tried moving over the Auctioneer.lua file from my recently moved to WTF backup folder but I was having same empty search data problems as well as totally off values when I hover over the item.
I tried the Auctioneer.lua.bak from my recently moved to WTF backup folder and removed the .bak part.
    Still no luck.
I have tried installing AC and AA.
    No luck.
I then tried new auctioneer.lua as well as the 2 old file steps like above.

I think you'll find that the previous version(s) have critical strsplit and SetUIPanel errors that prevent AC (not sure about AA) from running at all, due to changes in recent WoW patches. So going back isn't an option - if this had been due to changes made by the Auctioneer devs, I expect they would have reverted those changes themselves already...

After having trouble with the search function in AC, I downloaded the most recent build 2801. Now I have an even weirder bug: I can't access the AH anymore at all. When right clicking on the auctioneers, nothing happens. More often than not, I even get d/c. Does anyone else have a similar problem?
