    Hello,

If been scanning the AH for quite some while now, and happen to make a few buck here and there.
But there are some things I would like to know:

    - What do you do if you got Example: primal might on AH for 80g's and some one is underbitting you all the time? do you simply buy that one and put it up again?
    - How much will you invest in 1 item to get the price up for the items? (how many will you buy up to get the others to sell)
    - What items have gotten you to the top;)?
    - With what starting money did you start and where are you now?
    - what do you do if a item doesn't get solf easily?

I would like to know these questions of you guys before I make any mistakes with some of them:)

    Thanks in advance

I may not be a typical Auctioneer user. I don't deal much in crafted items or commodities, and I don't do much market manipulation. Disenchanting isn't profitable enough to be worth my time.

I make somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000g a day. I just look for bargains and resell items at close to market value. The real profits are to be made in blues and epics, but I'll trade in anything that nets at least about 10g profit. Patience and diversification are key to this strategy - don't worry if a single item isn't reselling, and NEVER undercut other sellers unless their prices are over market value. Instead, just wait for theirs to sell, and list when you have no competition. Sellers fighting with each other only drives prices and profits down. You'll not make much profit for a while as you build up an inventory, but the gold sure rolls in once you do. I probably buy 100 and sell 100 items or so each day, but individual items sometimes hang out in my bags for a few months.

I'm sitting on around 55k gold. Would be about 100k more if I hadn't bought half my guild epic flying mounts.

I would suggest reading How we make our gold using Auctioneer (and part 1 of that thread) for some tips about how people are making their gold.

Until the wiki has been fully updated with info about Auctioneer Advanced, the best place to learn about it, short of actually using it, is to read the forums and the existing beginner info in the wiki . Read through that thread I linked above and feel free to ask any questions in it you still have. The forums are here to ask questions and get help, and plenty of people contribute their thoughts.

    Try these in the wiki:

These forums are sort of a "learn as you go" experience. You read through both threads of How we make our gold using Auctioneer and you still don't have a better understanding of how people are making money with Auctioneer? There is a lot of good information in those two threads, including answers to questions you've asked in your original post.

If you've had more than 50k gold, you can't be doing too badly! I've been playing the AH for a long time and have yet to reach that plateau.

I've never had more than 10,000 gold total...
I've found it's really hard for me to _regularly_ make more than 1000g a week from the auction house, mostly because there is a limit to the demand for things. To make any more money I need to do a _lot_ of buying mats cheap to craft things to sell and it ends up getting very time consuming.

Posted By: deliciousmmm ohh I thought everybody would make 200k a month or something,

The per character gold limit is around 200k (2^31-1 copper) so you couldn't sustain that for long. ;)

I think this is my best week so far though, hit 50k!

That's my JCer and general flipper - about another 1.5k profit on my DEer who I tend to neglect these days with the crazy money in JCing. I wish I'd caught on earlier. :P

but there is one thing which I'm bad at and that is control the market fully how do you approach in such way to control the economy from your server? because untill now I've only be searching trade resale etc.

and what do you guys do if people are under bitting you always..? because spellcloth was quite good going @ beginning but now its back in AH alot so got loads for ?? nothing...

In the spellcloth case... Be patient and keep it for the next patch, the price should rise again with some new patterns coming in. (Or so I've heard.)

That's a risky business. You can "control" a market only if you control supply, which means grabbing every auction you see undercutting you. But if the ultimate supply exceeds actual demand - not the false demand you created by buying up everything - then you end up with a pile of stuff you can't sell quickly enough.

As soon as you notice that happening you need to stop buying so aggressively and think about cutting your losses, trying to sell your stock slowly - not all at once because that drives prices DOWN - or bide your time until the market rises by itself.

Also what funny thing, what do you do with poor people because because I had money a lot... I bought my char like everything it needed epic gems etc...
    but people approach me with:
    - E-bayer?
    - gold buyer?
    - lol exalted with ebay
    - nubie
do you guys also have this?

Just as in real life, you won't make many friends by telling everyone how much money you have. Not the good sort of friend, anyway. ;)

That's a good point Nine, and one that I haven't seen addressed on these forums. Of all the people I've known in WoW, only one knows how much gold I have and even who my AH character is. When I'm on my AH character, the only non-AH or buying related chat I have is with the player who knows my main's identity, and I consider him a good friend in the game. He also knows my policy of secrecy and does not reveal my business to others. Not even anyone else in my guild knows.

Nine is right, you won't make any friends you want to have by telling how much gold you've acquired. The only people you're likely to attract are leeches who want to "borrow" gold or want you to buy them stuff. So, just say no to disclosure!

hehe, well only a few good friends in the game that I really help out to buy epic flyer etc, but ehmm yeah 1 guy told the guild.. and others keep my name a secret.
But yeah I never usually tell it to others, if they ask I just say I dont know can't even buy greenies...;)

But these people that encounter me with that our just random people ingame that whisp me if I'm idle/afk in IF/SW they say ur a ebay?
    or the following beggers:

    - I like you alot, gief gold!
    - ur soooo awesome plx give gold now 60g
    - ur gear is the best ingame are you in a movie?? all BoE , gief me epic now from AH
    - I'm poor person from *country

but back to topic, If read the link you gave me but all I see is people talking about DE.
What settings do you for example have can you people make screen shots?
my starting bid will be 5000g to start making more gold using AH and you guys settings if possible want to see if that works out.
can you guys gives screenies from BTm Scanner + what your tricks are form AH in here? because that other topic was not clear to me...+ some people went alot offtopic

One question i just thought about was is it possible to use 2 different pricing models example: i want to use wowecon for looking up items since wowecon is normally lower then the market value and i want to use stddev when posting since i already have beancount adjusting the price. is this possible?

thats why you can select a different market module via appraisers drop down... but why not have beancount adjust the wowecon stats? I say this because its always best to use the identical figure for basing a buy or not buy calculation that you actually sell the item for or buy the item for it should be the same value you are basing your math off of...

ok yeah now that i think about it it does make sense to use the same for all calculations i just thought that if it was a good buy with wowecon since its lower i could repost with stddev as it will be alot higher but still match the comp ill just keep doing what im doing. its working for now i think...

I generally like using Market Value specifically because StdDev often winds up too high. So I find the other stat modules (especially Sales) help pull it back into line.

yeah sales has really helped adjust my market price which is very nice, and I have been using market for awhile because it, I think, would be better to rely on a mix of stats than on any one stat (to help adjust for possible scam data)

mattbnr, yeah, it is nice to buy with a stat that 'should' be lower and post with a stat that 'should' be higher but if you really want to accomplish that you can do the same thing by simply increasing the minimum discount. Best to use the same stat everywhere on any one item (its OK to mix stats across different items as long as its in unison everywhere for that item. <<< This is why I wanted appraiser pricing for... well everything... and why I was SOOO VERY HAPPY to get it as an option in enchantrix

It really gives you a better idea what you are paying for something, if my min discount setting is 50% and an item pops I know its popin' because its over a 50% discount... I can glance at the btm prompt and see how much I should make etc. I can quickly scan a tooltip (assuming I kinda know the item) and easily say 'thats a deal' by posting using a different stat, I would now have to compare an additional figure against everything, what AADV thinks I am going to sell it for (because this isn't actually the figure you are using to buy the item you need to manually do this math [in your head if you are able] to properly understand the full value of the item)... I'd rather let AADV do that for me and not have to worry about doing extra math, its difficult enough to make that buy or pass determination on items you don't know without needing the added difficulty of doing half the math twice... (although, its possible I look at things more than others do and they want that 'padding' but I would rather put a specific percentage padding myself by increasing my min disc % rather than getting an unknown padding percentage that is going to very greatly based on the volume of an item)

BTW, shouldn't the beancount matcher base its adjustment at least partially on a ratio rather than the raw counts?

At the moment I think it applies the same discount to 5 expiries/0 sales as it does to 100 expiries/95 sales, when I would expect it to be far more aggressive on items that have completely failed to sell.

yeah on some of my items i have around 200-300 fails and it is only adjusting the price liek 7% but i have it set to .01% adjustment at a time so it takes 10? 100? fails to equal 1% change.

There was a problem with what Beancounter used to do in that if you had 2000 failed and 1800 succeeded it would often price the item at 0g which was bad...
Using numbers<1 and an exponential curve (bigger differences affect things less) helped a lot with this but it's probably not completely optimal yet. It solves one really big problem but leaves some smaller ones instead.
Also... 50% failed auctions isn't really. It's that you've succeded 50% of the times you posted it... If you have 100 failures and 10 successes it might mean that you've posted each of them 10 times before they've sold which might still be right mix for items people don't want often but will pay a lot for when they do...

    Rodgort/Nine,

What servers do you guys play on to have that much action in the auction house?

At best I'm pulling in 500-1k a week.. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... But I'd like ot think it is the auction house because ours seems kinda dead.
