Please explain some things to me as if I was completely new to the addon when it comes to Searching for bargains & bids by profit and percentage.

Question #1: Is there a way to do this just in AucAdv without using BottomScanner? I just downloaded AucAdv again and saw no search tab and no apparent way to do this in *just* AucAdv

Question #2: If using the Auc Classic scan, which I have been since the big change, going to the search tab and searching will not always give me the results of my just completed scan (Yes, I am using the "old" scan button--using the new scan button does not work either). Most times it does, other times it gives me the last scan I did. For example, I just completed a scan before posting this, and when I searched under the search tab, it said "results 708 minutes old". That obviously does not help me find current bargains.

In short, please tell me what I have to do to either:
#1. Search for bargains in AucAdv without having to babysit btm scanner.
    or
#2. Get the search tab to consistently load the results of the most recent scan.

    Thanks in advance!

#1: all recent builds have a SearchUI. You get to it from the SlideBar - it is the magnifying glass icon I believe. We will add a tab for it to the AH at some point. For the moment, it is still a work in progress.

#2 is most likely a data issue just for the item you are searching for. Unfortunately, we are not spending a lot of time on AC bugs at the moment. I believe it corrects itself if you hit the UIRefresh button once or twice (and make sure to wait if it's an item that has multiple pages of results).

#2 it was doing a full AH search, not for a specific item. It just refused to update the search results on occasion.

Anyways, I got #1 nearly working with AucAdv and I'd like to focus on that. The only question I have still is when I hit the "Buyout" button in the search UI, I get a confirmation box saying do you wish to buyout this item for Xg? Cancel/Yes. Despite hitting "Yes," it does not in fact buyout the auction. I was surprised after doing this on several items and going to my mailbox, it was totally empty. When I searched in the AH window, sure enough they were still sitting there for sale.

Any ideas on why I can't buy out auctions from the search UI window?

nope, none. I have had it work before, but haven't tried recently. Rockslice can probably help you more the next time he pops in. Can you just verify that "/swat show" doesn't display any recent errors?

re: #2, I realize you were doing a full scan. but for some reasons some of the specific items didn't process right I believe. Having said that, I'm far from sure about the cause, so I agree, let's just focus on AA. :)

Is anything output in the chat frame (or wherever you've redirected AucAdv output to) when you click "yes" on the dialogue?

Yes, when I click on the confirmation to buy, it looks like the output in the chat frame is as if I was running an AH scan on that item rather than purchasing it.

the end-of-scan output is supposed to be there. Anything besides that?

On my most recent run, I noticed that it was showing items that I had bought several hours ago in the search pane. So once again I'm having trouble getting the search results to update properly.

As for what is happening when I click on an item that I know is still for sale: I click on buyout in the search ui, get the confirmation, click yes. There is then another output to chat.

    "Auctioneer finished scanning 1 auctions
19059 items in DB at start (1 matched query)
    1 unchanged items
    0 new items
    0 updated items
    0 items removed
    0 filtered items
    0 missed items
19059 items in DB at end
1 Secs spent Scanning Auction House"

And then nothing else. I can then close the search UI, type in the item name in the main AH search, and sure enough the item shows up as still on sale.

Can you take a series of screenshots for me? (upload to up.norganna.org then link here)

1: the auction selected on the SearchUI window
2: the purchase popup, with the auction visible in the browse window
3: the same auction visible in the browse window after pushing "Yes"

    1. auction selected in SearchUI window (the name is in the auction house b/c I had tried to buy it out before and failed, so searched for it)

[For some reason, I could not get the image tags to work at all. It just left blank space]

Angus: could you replace your Interface\Addons\Auc-Advanced\Corebuy.lua file with the one at http://up.norganna.org/show.php/Ylb8pr/CoreBuy.lua ?

Still not working in terms of buying things out, and am having the additional problem that stuff stays in the search ui window forever, not updating with a new search and disappearing when the auction ends. There's one item that shows up every time, but the problem is that I bought it out 3 days ago and run about 5 scans since then. Doesn't matter--still shows up in the search ui. There's several like that and more each time. Soon, all of the search results I get in the search UI for AucAdv will be of auctions weeks old.

So I guess I'll go back to running searches with the old button and having them work about 40% of the time. Sigh...

Please check the version of AucAdv that you're using (should be 3117) by typing /aadv about

The file I asked you to use should have only added a line of debug text when hitting the "Yes" button

Yep, using 3117 and the new Corebuy.lua file. Still getting auctions that ended days ago in the search UI, and still mostly unable to buy things out from within the searchUI panel.

is anything extra being output when you click "yes" ? (should be "Buying [item] at <value>")

Are you scanning with the AucClassic "Scan" button, or the AucAdvanced ones? If the Classic one, please try with the Advanced button.

Can you double-check that no errors are happening on load (/swat show). If no errors are logged in swatter, please type in /run foo() , then paste the full error from swatter here, including addon list. (if an addon other than swatter catches it, please disable that error and let swatter catch it, and recheck for errors during the load process)

I just tried it again and it in the chat window it will say "Buying item at ____" but up in the main AH window it will just say "Scanning" and nothing happens. It doesn't actually make the purchase. I've waited 45-60 seconds and it does nothing other than just say "scanning".

I'm using the AucAdv buttons: the stop/play/pause type ones you'd see on a stereo.

/swat show showed that the last error that swatter logged was May 30, several days ago. So no errors on loadup. I tried typing in /run foo() and got an error, but there was no way to copy the error. Just an "ok" button that closed the error when I clicked the button. Typing /swat show just showed the error from May 30, not the error that just happened.

you've got another bugcatcher (preventing swatter from getting anything - including errors while loading)

Please search for this bugcatcher - probably ImprovedErrorFrame or BugSack - and disable it. Then recheck for errors
