Our server has been plagued with a new scam. People post mats in single quantities at 999999999g in order to inflate for auctioneer and auc advanced users. Is there a way to set auc advanced to ignore anything over a certain percentage of the 0 value?
First, you will need to find the Auctioneer Addon options, via the "Configure" button at the top of the Appraiser Frame or via the "Coin Stack" button on the SlideBar Menu, installed by default just below the Minimap.
Once in there, go into the Filter Modules section and then select Outlier.
- Be sure there is a checkmark in the "Enable..." check box. - Select the statistic you would like to use via the drop down box. - Many choose to use "Market" as the statistic for Outlier. - Where you see the Sliders for "Settings per quality" - The best thing to do is to keep the percentages rather low for the low cost, common items, then increase them slightly for those items that are not seen as often. -- 150% -- 200% -- 325% -- 450% -- 525% **Change the values to match the amounts you think are appropriate, these five should be pretty decent.
The other thing you **need** to do is to watch and see who these posters are and tell the software to ignore their pricing!
Within that same Filter Modules section, use the Basic Filter. Again, ensure that you have a check mark in the enable check box. To add these scummy posters, just click Ignore Player and type in their name or shift+click a name in the chat window.
You will still see the auctions if you search or browse, the crazy pricing just will not be included when determining statistics. That is the important thing. ;-)
Now... to keep the database size on the low size and to not bother with saving "Grey" quality item data, set the "Filter By Quality" to 1, that will keep statistics from Grey items out of your database... some set that to 2, so that the only statistics retained are for "green" or better items. Personally, use the "1" setting to allow retention of the lesser "quality" enchanting materials.
That should get you well on your way to "power ignoring the baddies".
Be sure to let us know of your success or any settings that work better on your server/faction.
Happy Auctioneering,
Nikk
Edit: Including this tidbit from one of my other responses "Single items are a bit tough to locate... for now the most we can do, since each stat saves the data separately, is: /auc clear <itemlink>"
Also, if you see an item that is continually "messed with" and you just cannot get a decent set of data for it: - Open the Appraiser window - Alt+Click the offending item - Enter a manual price This will set a firm price to be used by the Appraiser statistic, regardless of anyone making future "bad" Auction House posts. N.B. This ability needs to be enabled, via the checkbox in the Appraiser section of the AuctioneerAdvanced settings. Look for the checkbox with something like "enable alt-clicking an item to set the Appraiser price".
wow finally a "guide" on how to set up and use outlier properly. VERY well done nikk. bravo
so you think that people should increase the prices as you have indicated? i personally have mine all set to 300%. hmm wonder if increasing would be better......
Great, so far so good.... Now I've found only one problem. I'm looking specifically at enchanting items for 2 reasons, one is because this is the area they seemed to go nuts on my server with and because I keep getting inflated enchanting values when using bottom scanner. I looked up arcane dust and teh [rice seems normal now, but large prismatics are showing an average value of 6,969g. Can I purge data from a single item? If so how?
As stated in the post, those percentages are dependent upon your server and faction. Basically those settings are saying that the more common items should only be allowed to vary by a relatively small amount, at least when it comes to their statistics, even if the pricing has been crazy.
The blues and purples are allowed more leeway due to their rarity. Especially with the upcoming expansion, the blues and purples from the lesser, read: below 70, instances will likely deserve even greater increases since they will be even more sparse. That will mean folks posting those less common items for prices both above and below the "usual".
e.g. After WotLK launches, someone runs BRD and finds the off-hand, Thaurissan scepter thingy from the King's daughter, they check their data and see that one has not been listed for sale in *forever*. They need cash really quickly, so they decide to list it for peanuts. Since no one else will be running BRD any time soon, then the "real" market price should be lower.
The reverse also holds true. If that same person decides that they have enough cash and want to finance yet another epic mount from the sale of the scepter, then they will post the auction for a ton of cash. Since no one will be running BRD any time soon, then the average deserves to increase.
Any way, simply because BTM Scanner and, or, the SearchUI pings on a certain auction, that does not necessarily mean you have discovered and awesome deal. As you well know, there is *no* substitute for knowing your server and faction. If a deal looks too good to be true, take a few moments to discern if that really is the case.
Use the tools wisely, and in return, you will live well. Become lackadaisic instead, And you shall soon see, Just how miserable, a poor elf can be.
Single items are a bit tough to locate... for now the most we can do, since each stat saves the data separately, is: /auc clear <itemlink>
The other thing is just to keep in mind the price disparity and wait until the price comes back within reason.
To make the Enchantrix item "disenchant" values fall in line, for the time being: - Click the "red jewel" icon on the SlideBar menu, that will bring up the Enchantrix options. - In the configuration panel click on "Fixed Value" - Find Large Prismatic Shard, then set the value to a decent price. -- As suggested in the options, be sure to set the "Weight" appropriately.
After a while, you can go ahead and allow the pricing to be controlled by Auctioneer's values once more, simply return to the Enchantrix options and remove the check mark from the Large Prismatic Shard check box.
Hope this nudges you back on the track to Auctioneer bliss,
