    The saved data for auctioneer recently stopped showing as if there were no "saved variable file". I did not perform any upgrades and things have been going smoothly for nearly 10 months now and just this week the data stopped showing. If there is any way to recover the data (nearly a years worth for my server) that would be fantastic and much appreciated. Below is a link to the saved variable files for auctioneer, I believe that they somehow may have corrupted during a crash.

    Version Info:
    After this problem i upgraded to version 5.0 PRE 3164 which did not seem to fix the issue. Until now i was using the release just before 3154. The operating system i use i windows XP.

    Most likely your file was corrupted (I can't really look through your file while at work), or you ran afoul of the SV key limitation described in the FAQ. If this is the case, then unless you have backups there isn't much we can do.

    Alrighty, well i will do my best to try to find out what this "sv key limitation is" in the mean time thank you for such a quick reply.

    Dinesh was referencing the issue outlined in http://forums.norganna.org/discussion/3266/auctioneer-classic-and-auctioneer-405-support-faq/ Q7 and Q7a.

    Question, if you remove these from your WTF directory, WoW will create new ones automatically, do things seem to work correctly? Given, you will not see the historical data, but even one scan should provide some pricing.

    Indeed this does seem to make things work correctly, although there is still the issue of nearly 10 months of scans.. I don't remember there being a "Your Auctioneer SavedVariables file is 100% Full" warning. So i put this question out there... What are some steps (if any) i can take to maybe get some saved data back?

    Well, it depends on the type of corruption and if someone can find it.

    We do not have a "check this and make sure it's good" type of program- certainly an idea, but there is not one right now. Of course and addition to that would be "and show us where it's bad"...

    Give us a few days and perhaps someone will have time to read through- no guarantees, though. If you have looked at the files, they are not the easiest things to decipher and it depends if someone has the time to do so.

    Other than some really rare items that only show up every so often, most data over 2 weeks is really worthless, since the markets change so much. This is especially true right now, with yet another, relatively big, patch on the way. Not trying to negate your need, simply to point out that it's not that bad *if* the source of corruption cannot be found.

    Also, be sure to start backing up your ..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns and ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF folders. There are a whole bunch of things that can cause corruption, of varying degree, the best defense is to back up those folders- preferably to another drive, as often as you see fit. In general, backup your data ever day/other day, then keep one backup per week for each week of a month, then continue from there. There is really no reason to keep anything over a month- seeing as any corruption should be noticeable much, much sooner.

    wow i haven't backed up my data for over a year but i don't care if i lose it. as i scan enough that i will build up a decent database in about 2 weeks again. as you stated, data from 10 months ago has NO effect on what stuff is worth now as the patches change the prices so so much.

    It's alright, i appreciate all of the help everyone has offered. I don't want anyone to go through more trouble that it is worth. I started the database over and i will be making backups more frequently from now on. Thank's again for all the help!
