    All,

Awesome news, we are now at a point where we can branch a real *Beta* of Auctioneer Advanced.

    :clap::swingin::boogie:

    Eh hem...

As many of you know, the current "Preview" most likely would have been used as the "Release" version in many places. We decided against that, due to many factors, including missing functionality, new functions being added, old functions being tweaked, to put it mildly, and more.

With the impending release of Blizzard's upcoming expansion, the Wrath of the Lich King, we have our eyes set on the prize of having not just the beta version, but a full-quality release version of Auctioneer Advanced ready for use as close to opening day as possible.

Now, this objective will require not only extensive finger bending by the development team, but help from everyone in the community. Though not an all-inclusive list, some of the things we need for "5.1" are:
    * Detailed Jira reports from all users delineating the exact sequence of events needed to recreate problems
    * More input about how people have been using Auctioneer Classic and Auctioneer Advanced
    * Clear, thought out suggestions for how to better the functions that exist within Auctioneer Advanced (Beta)
    * Comments and concerns about the User Interface of Auctioneer Advanced (Beta)
    * Assistance documenting features, writing guides, and checking help text in-game - not just that there are no spelling errors, but that the text makes as much sense as possible from the beginner's point of view and the experienced user's point of view.
As for "5.2", we will need help with:
    * Localization, including zhCN csCZ daDK nlNL enUS frFR deDE elGR itIT koKR ptPT ruRU esES zhTW trTR.
** Note that a lot of preparation must be made and we will make a call for translators when necessary.

As for the ten ton monkey pulling the fiber from your walls at this very minute- many, including nearly all of the development team, have used numerous incarnations of Auctioneer, including Auctioneer Classic. As with the changes from one to two, two to three, and three to four, there are things that were familiar, that we liked, or disliked about the previous versions but the simple fact is that we are moving on to better things. The reasons for this have been stated, restated, listed and recompiled so please, help us move to Auctioneer Advanced in a way that benefits the entire community.

Comments, Concerns, and the use of your brain is most appreciated!

    Happy Auctioneering,

    Nikk :shades:

    Additional things on the roadmap:

    * Market Value evaluation needs a configuration panel so that people with "lesser computers" can turn down the processing a little bit (at the cost of a little accuracy). This is due to AucAdvanced performing some calculus, and some older computers may not be able to handle the number of steps required to finish integration.

    Hi,

I hope I'm doing right by posting here.

At first I'd like to tell you that AAdv is a great AddOn. After some hickups when I started it the first time I have discovered no real problems. Maybe because I do not have all options turned on, but anyway, it works great for me and I can pick up my career as a salesman again :)

The pricing informations are reliable but I would like to have the "can not undercut lowest price" message in Appraiser more outstanding. Maybe tint it red and/or use a bigger font? I have accidently posted some auctions and was wondering afterwards why I was not undercutting the lowest price - I simply did not notice the warning. And I would like to have this message in the tooltip also ... or is it to be seen equal to the "Disenchant item" suggestion?

The other thing is, when browsing the auctions I would like to have the results not to be sorted alphabetically but by Min-Level ... sure, I can click on the column header to change the sorting, but AAdv does not keep this "setting". When I relog the sorting is back to normal.

    Regards,

    Smuggl

as far as the under cut thing goes it really don't matter as SOMEONE is bound to undercut you at some point in time. there is nothing you can do about it.

i think the min level is not a part of auctioneer that i know of. we don't modify any default part of bliz code and that is theirs if im thinking right. im sure one of our devs will have much more insight into the code part of this as im taking a educated guess.

We minimally modify the default pane, I believe, to allow a couple of things. That may be one of them, but I thought the only sorting we added was sorting by percent.

So, do I understand correctly that there is no way to color the message in Appraiser's Side Pane?

As far as I could see the sorting is alphabetically by item name. (I don't have WoW running in my office, so I can not check this right now ;) )
But the main point is: it does not keep the sorting (e.g. by Min) after log out.

If you are talking about when you post items yes there is a way to color the messages. well the values i guess are colored according to where you are gonna be posting at by your price (red yellow green blue etc. etc. ). it should be enabled by default but if not im sure there is a option for it. there seems to be a option for just about everything if you look hard enough.

the sorting by imin(if this IS that column your talking about) is not something that is a auctioneer setting so we cannot keep that in memory as we don't modify it in anyway. that im aware of.

I know for sure that sorting by buyout price per (ascending) does not get saved across sessions. Pct might be the default sort, maybe?

Regarding sorting, CompactUI does save the sorts that it does by itself (the pct sort). However, the other sorts are server-side, and so we've left them alone. I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but go ahead and add a JIRA for CompactUI to remember server-side sorts and restore them.

As for the message coloring, please add that as a JIRA as well to Undercut (including the RGB values you think would be good)

My standard way of using auctioneer is to identify items of armour and weapons that are both underpriced and in high demand. The key stats I use for this are in auctioneer classic, relating to the bid percentage and price. Now I might have this wrong, but I take those stats to represent the percentage of items that auctioneer has scanned that have a bid on them ( a good proxy for demand) and the average price of that bid ( a proxy for a floor price at which people are prepared to buy the item). I tend to bid/buyout anything that has been bid for more than 5% of the time that is currently offered at less than the average bid price. It makes me money, anyway.

It's probably because of the necessary complexity of AA whilst it is it's beta phase, but I can't identify any similar simple method of identifying item demand or the price that people are willing to pay. I think know that it supplies some figures on items that are scanned and then subsequently missing from scans done before their due expiry date, but although some of these might be bought out, others will have been simply withdrawn.

The numbers around bids are really useful to me. Any plans to include them in the release version of AA would be great.

My comment is that having separate settings for the evaluators in BottomScanner and the searches in SearchUI is confusing. I think it would be better to unify the settings for BottomScanner and SearchUI into a single panel. That way you only have to setup the Appraiser (or resale in searchUI) method or disenchant method once and it works for both BottomScanner and SearchUI. Then, within BottomScanner and SearchUI you would have a panel that allowed you to selectively and independently turn on and off the evaluation (or search) methods for that application. I think this would help to tie the overall package together: BottomScanner and SearchUI would then just be two different user interfaces for accessing AADV's overall function of scanning or saving the AH database. Right now, with BottomScanner and SearchUI having separate evaluator settings, they seem like two separate packages from AADV.

    ElvisWind,

The reason why there are two sets of settings, for the moment, is so folks can set up the Searchers according to their old BottomScanner settings, it seems like there are two separate packages, because there is.

One of the biggest reasons for implementing SearchUI with its RealTimeSearch is to reduce the number of "evaluators" that a person needs to track. The RealTimeSearch currently performs all of the functions of BottomScanner, and more, except for the Enchant Mats, which has not been implemented.

Your thoughts address many of the reasons for the creation and implementation of the SearchUI, that uses the current scan data, and the RealTimeSearch, that uses the "live AH" data.

Relatively soon, BottomScanner will go the way of the do-do, but now quite yet.

Hope this clears up the confusion,

    Nikk :shades:

If you're planning to do away with BottomScanner, I suppose that would have the same result and help to reduce some confusion and the overall complexity of the package. I know I haven't used BottomScanner since SearchUI was updated with RealTimeSearch.

One thing I haven't figured out is how to do Snatch with the search UI. Am I missing something? It'd be nice to migrate over my snatch settings if possible (or when bottom scanner goes away). I miss some deals because my snatch list only gets run when I've got a lot of time to run bottom scanner instead of a the 'get all'.

    Thandril,

There is a Snatch searcher, that should show in the top left window of the SearchUI.

All you need to do is set that up and then select the Snatch Searcher as one of the Searchers to run within the RealTimeSearch.

The time to run that will be about the same as BottomScanner, since the functions are much the same.

    Hope that helps,

    Thandril,

3254 and beyond should have Snatch listed along with the other Searchers in the left SearchUI pane.

To function during the RealTimeSearch, Snatch needs to be enabled as one of the "RTS-enabled" searchers - other than that it should be there.

After visiting the AH and then performing a search with SearchUI, type /run foo () at the command/chat line, and then post the resultant error in a new post. Also, how about taking a screen shot of the SearchUI? WoW captures all of them in the ..\WorldofWarcraft\Screenshots folder, then simply upload that image to http://Up.Norganna.Org , and include the assigned URL in your post.

    Thank you,

Go ahead and do this, since you are only using Auctioneer Advanced, head over to http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/Installing and go through and delete all of those files from your AddOns folder, per the instructions.

Visit http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com/dl , select Preview, and then AuctioneerAdvanced Suite.

there is a good reason you don't see it - it is not included in our current builds. i'm not sure if that was by design (because we're waiting until it has its own modification GUI), or an oversight, but either way one of the devs should add it to build.conf when they are ready. Please feel free to add a JIRA for this.

So very, very sorry for that- even went and verified when the item was checked in- and when- but did not even think to check the build.conf. Thought that Snatch had been included some time ago.

The next build should have the Snatch evaluator, look for that in the next couple of days.

Again, sincerely sorry about the oversight- we try not to have folks go out of their way for nothing,

The SearchUI Snatch searcher doesn't appear in the public build due to the forced load order the embedding of SearchUI causes. Snatch required Btmscan to be loaded first, which requires AucAdv to be loaded first. As Snatch was loading with AucAdv (as part of the embedded SearchUI module), an error occurred very reliably on load.

As a temporary measure until the dev working on it has a non-btmscan-reliant version of Snatch, the Snatch searcher no longer loads if BtmScan isn't loaded (meaning if you're running a public build)

    Thandril,

There is no manual way to enable the Snatch Searcher, since the searcher code is not in the build.

As a workaround, if you need to run Snatch, simply use BottomScanner- you can run SearchUI's RTS and BTM side-by-side, just be sure to disable all evaluators other than Snatch in BottomScanner. You may run into a few items that are listed in a BTM pop up and the SearchUI, if they are both found at the same time, but only one "buy" or "bid"command will succeed, so you will not lose any gold, which is always good.

As previously mentioned, once the developer returns- or someone else picks up the project, and completes the necessary changes, it will then be returned to the build and you can then change up to SearchUI alone.

Hope this clears up any confusion,

    Nikk :shades:
