I just downloaded AA 3240 and installed it. I wish there was a superquick readme somewhere to find the list of changes in this version.
Two things that I noticed though.
1 - In the last version, I had a setting set somewhere so that no windows that opened up would close the auction house window. Great when I wanted to check and see which of my guildies are online, for example. Or peek at what materials are required to do an enchant.
This ability has vanished though. I spend about ten minutes searching for the setting to keep the auction house window open and couldn't find it. Has it been removed for some reason? I thought it was a really nice ability and would love to have it back.
2 - I love the new Bottomscanner button (I'm guessing that's what it is) at the top of the browse panel on the auction house. I have always wanted to be able to turn the bottom scanner on and off from this window. I have noticed, however, that pressing the button doesn't change whether it's a triangle or square on the BtmScan panel. Also, while it seems to be bottom scanning (it's going back and forth between the last two pages of the AH listings), I noticed it isn't top scanning at all even though I have that setting checked in the BtmScan options.
Is this, in fact, a button to begin bottom scanning? If so, you may wanna look into the triangle/square issue and the topscan issue.
Thanks!

PS, Would still love to see a readme of the changes since the last version, even if it's just a collection of a few thrown together notes. It'll give me an idea of what to look for in the way of changes.
Question 2) That is the SearchUI icon. SearchUI is AucAdv's merger of btmscanner and SearchTab that was in Auctioneer Classic. You will need to configure SearchUI before you can use it.
Right click on the button and the window will open. Note it is still a WIP but many of the settings and searchers have much the same settings as bottomscanner. liveSearch is the equivalent of btmscanner and will need to be configured. The other searchers look at the last scan of the AH for deals.
Main difference from btmscanner is that it stores all the deals it finds in the window, so you can still use the AH before choosing to buy or pass. Instead of btmscanners BUY or PASS now prompt
On #1--No, it's still there, but it's been moved to it's own module. Look for Auc-Util-ProtectWindow on your addons screen, and then look for ProtectWindow under the Utilities section of the Auc Advanced config.
I'll be posting the change log as soon as I get a chance. I am not sure when I will get to it though.
1- it is Auc-Util-Protect I believe. Should be in the main AA options in the util header. It was not removed.
2- That is the button for the AA SearchUI. Clicking once will start its RTS (Real Time Search) mode. It is actually a replacement for BTM, it isn't BTM itself. We will likely eventually retire BTM.
Thanks for the info on #2. I'll worry about that a bit later. I'm trying to solve #1 right now. (Wish I could multi-task like all of you!) : )
Unfortunately, I see no Auc-Util-ProtectWindow on the addons screen. Nor is there a ProtectWindow under the Utilities section of the Auc Advanced config window. Nor, if I go into /Interface/Addons/Auc-Advanced/Modules is there any module that has the word "protect" in it.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of Auctioneer Advanced just two hours ago, so I'm not sure how it could not be there unless it wasn't in the downloaded package.
No, you are right, it's not in the build package. But checking the code, I don't think it ever was. Are you sure you didn't download it from the dev repository at some point?
No, I downloaded 3164 from the correct place on this site, but not the developer's area.
I still have the .zip file from when I downloaded it. I went through it, and sure enough, there's no protect module in there either. I distinctly remember an option with a checkbox that said something about preventing other windows from closing the auction house window. So I checked it.
If it won't damage my data files (although I suppose I could back them up), I can reinstall 3164 and see if I can find it again for you.
I don't recall seeing a tooltop when I hoovered over the button, but perhaps I didn't hold it there long enough. Will try again after the raid. (Am supposed to be buffing for Reliquary of Souls at the moment).
Check your version. You said in your original post that you installed 3240. We just released 3262, which you might not have noticed. (3262 also has some other unrelated bugfixes which are highly recommended)
They're right, it was originally part of the core code, but it was decided it would be better to make it its own module, sorry that it didn't get included in the build script, but it *should* be there as of the next build.
Oh, nice to see 3262. Just downloaded and will install it immediately. (We just wiped on RoS -- no druids for battle rezzes. It's gonna be a loooong evening, I think).
I dunno what time zone your release times are set to, but perhaps 3262 came out after I got 3240. I hadn't noticed it was updated.
#3 - Is there an easy way to tell what version of AA you're using? Like /auc version or something? I've noticed y'all don't seem to have a "vanity tab" anywhere that serves as an about page.
#4 - Odd one. On the little bar that shows the gold coins, beancounter logo, searchui logo, etc. etc., on a whim I clicked on a black space between the gold coins and the beancounter logo. It popped up a window called "Auto Magic: Auto Sell Config". Did I stumble onto something I'm not supposed to be able to access? Or is the logo for that area simply not showing?
That is Automagic- use it if you like. The icon should be there, likely someone uploaded an older version when making changes, so you are not seeing the icon. The icon will be back in the next version.
3: /auc about. /auc about all will give you details as to each file's version. Please note that it may not match up with the version on the zip you downloaded if the last revision or two were on files not in AucAdv (eg BeanCounter)
Ahh, excellent! Y'all deserve your own /about "vanity tab" somewhere though. Consider adding it. You've earned it. Especially since you're soliciting donations for web hosting (something I'll be doing for you shortly).
And thanks for telling me about the logo. I'll check out the "mystery feature" when I get back to the auction house. I'll go back to #2 and worry about that then too.
Does it go just into the AddOns folder? Or does it go in the Modules folder of the Auc-Advanced along with all the other Auc-Util modules? I tried it in both places and it didn't seem to make a difference. No entry for ProtectWindow appeared in the Auctioneer Advanced Util Module settings either way.
The folder should go in the Addons folder, and must be named "Auc-Util-ProtectWindow". All three files at that link should go in this folder. You may need to enable it at the addon screen after that. Once that's done, go to the Auc configuration screen and look for ProtectWindow under utilities. You'll need to be logged out of the game while your doing this, or completely exit and restart the client after it's done. If that doesn't work, let me know.
Thanks for all the tips. Found why it wasn't showing up on the character select screen under addons -- when I downloaded them it replaced the file extensions with a different extenstion (.mht, I think). Anyway, that's corrected now and it's showing up on the addons screen. I have correctly checked the box.
It is not, however, showing up on the list of utilies on the Auctioneer configuration screen. Dunno why.
