    All, This is from a post over on WoWInterface. For those other folks who have been wondering...

    Auctioneeros,

    This question came in from one of your fellow Auctioneer users, regarding one bit of tooltip information:

    "Hello, I've downloaded the auctioneer app, and love it, but there's one thing on there I don't quite understand. I've tried reading through the stuff on the website, but so far I'm not finding it, and it's a terribly small print that's quite difficult for me to read. I can't seem to enlarge the font. Anyways, my question is I see in the class section for items it has some things listed as a quest item, but when looking for which quest w/in my quest list, the item is not requested for any of them. I've also noticed that it says the items level... could it be that at that level the item was a quest item?"

    That "Class" information is from Informant, one of the sub-AddOns, or modules, in the AuctioneerAdvanced Suite.

    What that is telling you is that the item is simply used in a Quest- were the item being used in one of your current quests, you would see an additional notation in the far upper right of the tooltip saying "X of Y". i.e. 1 of 3 if you have 1 of 3 items required to complete the quest.

    To determine the quest(s) in question:

    - Go to the KeyBindings- most often brought up if you are at the main WoW screen, in-game, by pressing the "ESC" key.
    - Scroll down into the portion where various AddOn key bindings are listed, after the default UI key bindings, and look for the "Informant" entry.
    - There is only one key binding available for Informant, that of the Informant Information Window.
    - Assign some handy key combination, for this exercise we will use the lovely Shift+X combination.

    Now, mouse over any of the items in your bag, especially those dealing with quests and then fire off the command for the keys you just bound. In the example: Shift+X

    A new tooltip, that could be quite large, depending on the item, will display on the screen. Within that new tooltip you will see the quest(s) that use the item in question, any vendors that sell the item, and more.

    Note: We obtain our information from one of WoWI's Sister Sites, WoWHead, and Blizzard's Armory. The item information will only be as complete as the information contained on WoWHead and the Armory *and* only as current as our most recent update.

    The great part of all of this is, two team members have recently picked up and dusted off Informant- updating the code needed to obtain the data and also some fixes to ensure that the data is actually displayed, imagine that!

    As always, we appreciate the input of our users, should you notice any items that have incorrect vendor or quest information, please post on our main Support Forum, specifically, the Informant Support subsection, http://forums.norganna.org/discuss/16/ .

    Note: The vendor pricing, taking into account any "Reputation" discounts is still being investigated. For now, the vendor price could be slightly off but, most importantly, this does not affect the price an NPC vendor will pay for an item.
