    Hello,

I started playing Warcraft when it first came out and after a month, I noticed no one was really working on an auction house mod that replaced the default interface so I started working on one. I wanted to speed up how I listed items and be able to keep track of all my sales and profits. You can read my post about it and the features I had planned for the first release here(under my name Malkai).

Unfortunately, I never finished the mod because I quit Warcraft in disgust after 3 months of no patches for my poor warlock. I was able to get a first version together that included a few things that are now in the Auctioneer beta such as listing all similiar items when you post an auction and adding extra sorting columns.

Well now I'm back playing Warcraft and I would like to continue work on my mod but then I realized why reinvent the wheel on a lot of features that Auctioneer already does. I still have some catching up to do on the API changes blizzard made.

Here is what I had working at the time that I quit:
    • Ability to sort column by names and buyout(which Auctioneer already does)
    • SHIFT-RCLK on an item in your inventory to automatically place it up for auction as well as remove it(Auctioneer does this with ALT-CLICKING but not as well)
    • Automatically display same items, similiar items, or full category of items when you place an item up for auction so you can see your current competition. Similiar items showed items that were in the came category within a certain level range of your item. (This is similiar to what Vindicator implemented recently)
I'll post a screen shot of my mod now which the 1.9 patch seemed to mess up graphically. I was still in the process of working on history of sales and purchases which is something I'd like to pick up working on.

What I had planned was a seperate addon that would work with the default auction house or any other mod such as Auctioneer that would keep track of your purchases/sales and profits as well on screen icon notification when you've been outbid or when an auction has sold. I plan to have a working version soon.

Once that is done, I'd like to help with Auctioneer and add what I had originally planned for my addon--Full Searching capabilities. Once you do a scan snapshot, you'd be able to search for an item by seller, by stats, by price or by upgrade(it will automatically find upgrades to what you are wearing). I'd also like to add a full history of scan snapshots which you can search. This information can also be displayed graphically in an item histogram of prices over a period of time so its easier to keep track of trends.

I'd also like to see some optimization work done on Auctioneer as well as code cleanup. I like what MentalPower is doing in regards to making Auctioneer OO.

I hope I can help expand the power of Auctioneer. Good work on everyone that has made auctioneer a success already. I wish I had it as an example back when I was working on my mod.

Hello! Norganna (the lead Auctioneer developer) seems to be on vacation or something as he hasn't been seen around lately, so it seems like I'm the most senior dev around (other than Luke). So lets get the ball rolling.

I've read your post but I'm not quite sure what is it exactly what you want to do as part of the Auctioneer team. The only clear part is your interest in optimizing and cleaning-up Auctioneer's codebase, which is great. However I would love some clarification on your planned additions to the codebase.

Thanks for your interest in joining the team.
