Gatherer and Gatherer Database help on Mac PLEASE

I am having a hard time getting Gatherer Database to work. Unfortunately, I am not very techi person, but I have been searching the net and reading about loading the add on. I have done a manual install 2x on my MAC, but when I start the game, it's not listed as an Add On. Why? I read someplace that I need to enable it, but I cannot seem to figure that out either. Are there special instructions for MAC or do LUA files just not work on MAC.

Alright so, I was getting some uncommon lag spikes for me. tried logging out and it didn't work I had to eventually ctrl+alt+del to get WoW to close. I did a reboot afterwards. Didn't get back on WoW right away because rolling restarts were scheduled and figured I;d just wait till they were done. around 5:30am pst. I get back on to find out no gatherer nodes are on my map. Which really sucks. Some reason the restart was postpone and 5 minutes into being back online the sever was getting ready to restart so again I log off no problems this time. Wait till 6:20am pst and log back in still no nodes.
Is there a way to restore my nodes?
I was not importing wowhead/database because of its lack of nodes for starting areas. and I then decided to try and build my own accurate database. I have spent several hours thusfar building up my database of nodes. granted this was a new project and no I have not dedicated my entire time to it. but I would like to try and get my nodes back.
as for other addons running at the time.

Accessing Gatherer data from another addon

Gatherer is one of my favorite add-on's

But i would like to see 2 changes to make it even better imho

Nr1 is pretty easy by changing the BLP files I tried to do it my self but can not find a converter from TGA to BLP (if you could direct me to one i do it my self)
Its pretty hard sometimes to see resources on the mini-map by changing the art whit a pink dot ore so this would be easily fixed

Nr 2 is a bit harder i think
Because of server lag nodes don't pop up always strait away, could Gatherer give a ping if one shows up when you are in range.

Tnx for this great add-on and the the other ones you have made they are among the the best in the game.

A new quest giver extension

I have created a program capable of getting information on every quest giver known to the WoW information database industry. Unforturnately I am not so good with Lua, or more like the WoW API. (yet) So I guess you can say I have a whole library full of quest givers, their names, locations, etc... But no shelves to put them on.

Gatherer is the-most-efficient icon displayer for the Map/Minimap that I've ever seen. I would like to make a few requests/suggestions, in order to give my database a home. I don't expect all requests to be met, and it would certainly be great to have any met at all.

First request, is to please add an addtional section to Gatherer for quests.

Second request, is to create a second sister-addon of Gatherer, if developers are unwilling to go for the first one. What I mean by this, is to have an addon exactly like Gatherer, but just for NPCs. If this request were met, I would expand the database I have with vendors, flight masters, trainers, and everything else I can get a hold of.

Third request, which is probably more practical, please provide some more information on sytanx/format of the Gatherer Wowhead DB. This will make it possible for me to rewrite my program to format my own database, into a database importable by Gatherer. I believe it would atleast be possible then to display quests in place of treasures. However at a cost of some information from my database.

I would like to team up with the Gatherer development team, to help make this database available to the public domain. If any of my requests are met, I am willing to hand the database over to the Gatherer team, along with my tool to keep it updated.

Please consider this, thank you.

Hello... I currently run WoW on two computers, a work laptop and my home desktop... Circumstances in my life have seen me playing WoW a lot more on my laptop versus my home computer... My question is, is there any way to move my Gatherer Data (such as deposit locations) from my laptop over to my home computer? If so, how?

Un'Goro Crater Error when combined with Addon Routes

I'm working with the the addon 'Routes' - http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11401-Routes.html
And it works great but just recently I've been getting this error when I try to set-up in Un'goro Crater. No other zones give my problems, Just Un'Goro.

I'm posting here because the Addon uses the same line to get info for all the other Zones, and the error is only happening for Un'goro and no other zones. Anyway not sure if you guys can help or not but here's what I have.

Gatherer Drop Statistics

The recent mining changes have brought the issue of Gatherer's drop statistics to the foreground and I would like to take this opportunity to have a more general discussion around what people would like to see from Gatherer's drop stats. I will start with a description of how the current system works, and then I am going to step back and see where the discussion takes us. I will of course keep a close eye on this thread to help provide information about what is and isn't possible and what may or may not be feasible.

The current system breaks down drop rates by object type and by zone. While the current drop statistics display shows an aggregate of the data across all zones in which a particular object appears the data is actually stored on a per zone, per object basis. When I say zone, I mean an area like the entire Wetlands, or all of The Barrens.

I have long considered at least providing an option for the stats display to only draw its data from the information stored for the zone the object you at looking at is in, but I haven't yet decided how much difference the particular zone an object is in actually makes for Herbalism and Mining. For treasure objects I have come to the conclusion that drop rates should definitely be calculated only on data for the zone the node is in. The primary reason for this is because many of the various chests and crates that share the same name across zones are actually different objects in the game database and yield different loot appropriate to the zone they appear in.

Project: Merge Gatherer Data

I've done a little script that mines gatherer.lua files for nodes and merges the data into combined files, however, due to the file structure of gatherer.lua I need to verify that everything works by having as many gatherer.lua files as possible to run the testing with. If you'd like to help you can send your World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\\SavedVariables\Gatherer.lua to me: john _at tackman _dot net

Also, I would need a couple of questions answered:

- are the libswagdata entries static or do they have a functional role in how different versions of gatherer work? i've only used one version of gatherer and between the different files my clients have made, there seems to be no change.
- in a mergefile, can i leave out sections that gatherer will fill with defaults? like Gatherer_DropRates, Gatherer_SavedSettings_AccountWide, LibSwagData and Gatherer_SharingBlacklist? Or should I copy the section from the original file?
- There's a mention of Gatherer DB version 3 in the lua file, are there plans for a version 4 and how will it differ?
- Does the order of the zones within the continent make a difference for the working of Gatherer?

Can you give me your opinion on this idea of how I would implement the data merge:

- users could submit their gatherer.lua on a webpage where they would also have to select which server they are playing on ( where the data comes from )
- as a return from the form submission the user would get a merged gatherer.lua with their settings and populated with the cumulative knowledge of the database
- database gets expanded if the user submits something that is not already in the database

I've programmed the script using Perl5.10 and if someone would like to discuss the logic, please let me know.

OK I know that this has been discussed a number of times but I feel like I can't find current information or are too blind to find exactly what I need. If it's been discussed or is in a sticky and I missed it I apologize, but I did try to RTFF and RTFM and I only ask you take pity on a poor blind fool.

I have two accounts on the same computer (not two toons, two separate accounts). I know that the gatherer information is saved in:

World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT1\SavedVariables\Gatherer.lua

I know that I can transfer the file over to: World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT2\SavedVariables\Gatherer.lua and have the information transfered over.

But if the two files are overlapping but not identical (ie some gathers made on one account and some on the other) is there any way to merge the two files? I found a VERY old perl script to combine them online but I believe it is for an older format of the LUA file and I'm WAY too rusty on perl to even consider trying to tweak it at all.

Moving forward once I find a way to combine the files is there any way to force gatherer to use only one file location? I.E. force it to use: World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\GathererSaveFile\Gatherer.lua or something like that? Or to automatically update both files at the same time?

I'm not interested in being told how to use the WOWHead gathererdb addon. I know how to do that and I know it would then give me basically all the nodes on both no matter what. Consider me a pseudo purist; I'd like to only use the gathers I've gotten for myself.

The import-bar flashes one time and ends the import with 0%. I use the latest versions of all addons.

At least for Goldclover, Tiger Lily and Firethorn the background of the icons appears to be set to black rather than a transparent colour. Azeroth and Outland herbs use a transparent background colour and so blend in with the map better.

This happens with, or without, Cartographer.

Error Messages

Loaded the latest gatherer early yesterday from wowinterface.com and today have gotten 40 error messages and they are not all the same. I can see what I have gathered today...the info about what the rest of the guild has gathered is gone.

There is even an error message that mentions auctioneer...how does that tie into the gatherer?

It seemed to be working fine yesterday. Was receiving guild nodes and my own. Now the guild nodes are gone...and it seems that only my own are in there and I cannot scroll past the first page full of entries.

I don't know how to display copies of these error messages but if you tell me how, I would be happy to do it. I know what info I have given you is more than likely not enough. Please help me...... I am running Windows XP...if that helps at all. Tell me what I need to do in order for you to get the right info.

Error attempting to enter DB screen

Ok, First of all I just want to apologize and let it be known, I have not read the requirements for posting, I apologize.

Anyhow I was attempting to open (right-click gatherer minimap button), It pops up and shows a few earthroot and peacebloom nodes although it gives this error and when I scroll through the list it shows nothing more than what you see when you first open it. I am not asking for any solutions as I will patiently wait a few days and download the mod again, I just want to report the error incase it hasn't been reported already and it can be fixed before the next update.

--To all you, creators of Auctioneer and this great gatherer mod, Thank you so very much! You have provided us with so much in-game enhancements we can all get rich, or just make our every day tasks easier and quicker! I can't say Thanks enough, You guys are great (and gals?)! :)
