Snatch at % of .... price

I've just updated to SVN 4215.

    Some feedback for you :)

I see a text entry box with 'buy as percentage of market price' next to it.
I already have a list of items to snatch.
I tried entering some numbers into the text box.

The values returned into the 'snatch at' boxes (g s c) appear to be calculated on the snatch value not the market price.

    For example:
    Small Brilliant Shard.
Snatch value set by me 3g 35s 00c.
    Market Price 3g 67s 93c.

    So I would expect to see a snatch price of 3.6793/100*10 = 36s 79c if I picked 10 percent.
    What I am getting is 3.3500/100*10 = 33s 50c.

Also when I enter a value in the text box then delete that value, the snatch price goes to 1 percent of the original snatch price.
Again not appearing to use the market price.

Is there something that I have not done and need to do or is this not working as expected ?

Here is a ss of the situation:

This is a ss including tooltip info:

Here is a ss where I picked snatch at 10 percent of market price:

Here is a ss where I deleted an entry in the text box:

    Apaseall,

That is correct, you either enter the item and "Snatch" by percent of Market Price *or* a specific value, just as always.

Also, keep in mind that is the initial commit and has many changes yet to come. Once it goes into the beta build, we will actively look for input.

    Sorry, what is correct?

I am pointing out that Market Price is not being used in the calculations.

Yes I know this is a SVN build - I am providing feedback.
If there is a preferred vector for input other than where I have posted, please inform me.

    Thank you

    Apaseall,

Delete one set of values or the other. It is meant to allow you to use either the percent or the set value, never both. So, remove the item, then shift+click your link and enter one line or the other, GSC or Percent, and then "Add". Not near the game right now, so not sure how else to describe it.

As to the feedback, at this stage, somewhere like IRC or the Jira ticket would be preferable. Something like this will undergo numerous changes and confuse anyone coming to the message boards looking for current issues.

Should no one be available at the given time you are "on" or the ticket be closed out, then a forum post might be alright, but you need to make it more clear that it is not the current release. Even going so far as to put [Dev Version Only] as a sort of tag in the subject and then posting in one the http://forums.norganna.org/7/ topic, rather than the day to day topics. Realize you put the SVN in the message, but most would skip over that and only read the rest, having it out of the way, with a clear title, goes a long way.

Will move it down to that topic now, in fact.

    Happy Sales,

    Apaseall,

The GSCs will change to show you the current percent and it is only displayed, but will adjust with the Market Price- and that will be in the extended help, eventually. Is that where the confusion is arising?

Thanks for moving :) Also thanks for help with how I should approach giving feedback in the future.
I'll post again when I have had chance to read your posts (digest / understand) and use wow.

    Snatch UI

I think was you posted is: either enter info into the GSC or the %MP boxes ?

    Example:
Small Brilliant Shard - my snatch price 3.34.00 - MP 4.47.66 (seen 2068)

    Here is what I did:
1 Deleted small brilliant shard from snatch list - checked that item had actually left the snatch list - yes.
2 generated a in chat using linkerator
3 shift-clicked on link - item appeared in add to snatch box - no values in GSC or %MP
4 entered 100 into %MP - GSC figures were generated automatically
5 added item to snatch list

All fair enough, however the GSC figure generated was 3.34.00 - which is my old manual snatch price - not the MP.

So as I said - new snatch ui is using my manual snatch price for its %MP.

Do you have a fixed price set for that item in appraiser ?

    Yes.

    Is the fixed price 3.34.00?

    Yes.
  • MattBnrMattBnr May 2009
so 3.34.00 IS the market value of it if you have it set as fixed. you have to have it set as market to have it use market.

The price that I want to buy something at has no linkage to the price I want to sell it at.
    Any connection is implied only.
    For example:
I can choose to buy items at 60% of market price and sell them at a fixed value maybe 85%.
Both % values are independant of each other, as the user I pick them.

Or to put it another way:
market price has a specific defined meaning when it appears as a stat in the tooltip and is not related at all to any price I have set to sell that item at.
it would be too confusing to use the reserved name 'Market Price' for to mean both the calculated stat price an item is selling and the fixed price I want to sell the item at.
  • MattBnrMattBnr May 2009
from what i remember of fixed prices is it over rights EVERY price. so it takes the place of market, std, simple etc. if you set a fixed price that is the price of that item. once you set a fixed price there is no longer a "market value" as fixed overwrites it. but i could be wrong. please correct me someone if i am. i don't use snatch and fixed prices all that much so this is all from memory.

Snatch needs a Price Model setting, so it doesn't just use Appraiser. Coming Soon! http://jira.norganna.org/browse/ASER-165

I've seen the updated snatch UI with the option to use different pricing models just like you can for appraiser.

My point in commenting here is about the use of the words 'market price'.
'market price' is a value that you can see in the tooltip when you hover over an item.
As such I am under the impression that 'market price' means something very specific.
I think I remember seeing somewhere that 'market price' is a stat calculated from the other stats in the hope of giving a more meaningful stat for the item.

The stat for 'market price' exists to be displayed in the tooltip irrelevant of the pricing model you use for that item in appraiser, and now in snatch ui.

    I suggest that either:
the words 'market price' are replaced with another more accurate description of what value is tested against,
or the test be perfomed by the 'market price' value as seen in the tooltip.
