Simple question about Starting price and buyout price
  • Tre232Tre232 August 2009
I have searched and cannot find an option in order to match my buyout price to my starting price. I am using the undercut option by 1c which works great for the buyout price, but when i do this it also undercuts the starting price by 1c and i would like this to be the same value as the buyout price. I usually sell my items on 12 hour basis and for example say i am selling a gem for 40g 98s 0c undercutting the competition by 1c automatically. But then someone has no buyout price and a starting bid price of 6g post it will make my starting bid price 5g 99s 99c. All i want it to do is still make my starting bid price 40g 98s 0c the same as my buyout price so i don't loose my ass on a 12 hour auction from lack of bids. Is there an option to do this? If so can someone help me find it? Thank you for your help.

Let me guess... you're using Post tab? Then answer is simple - don't. Use Appraiser instead.

yep as anr said post tab doesn't have as many options as appraiser. in appraiser there is a option to set your bid price by a % of your buyout. post tab is designed for those that don't want a lot of options to deal with. if you want more functionality move over to the appraiser tab.

even the appraiser tab will not match bid to buyout and vice versa as you change either, unfortunately. it will do so for the automatically calculated stat-based prices, but not for fixed prices.

You can still use matching to fixed price, just check mark once you edited your price.

On my WoW server the bidding competition is vicious as a glyph seller.
    1. There is no bidding type sales - buyout price allways equals start price
    2. I need to post 20 glyph types per class for every class
    3. I need to underbid the current low bid
    4. I need the ^$%#&* start price to equal the #*$&%^ buyout price
    5. Using "Post" tab allways requires a manual edit of the @#%#$^ start price
    6. Using the Appraiser tab - changes the selected pricing model "Glypher" (which is accurate
for current low bid) to 'fixed price' (useful as lipstick on a chicken)
as soon as you manually adjust the start price to match or approach the buyout price
    7. If auctioneer can't poll the current low bid ACCURATELY and post ONE item at a fixed amt
below current low bid, is there anything that can ? because manually adjusting 180 -220 glyph
auctions twice perday is @#$* assinine.

dbynum1: If you cannot be civil you're unlikely to get any help at all here.

OP: Let me first make sure I understand what you're asking and experiencing.

I have searched and cannot find an option in order to match my buyout price to my starting price. I am using the undercut option by 1c which works great for the buyout price, but when i do this it also undercuts the starting price by 1c and i would like this to be the same value as the buyout price.

It sounds like you want your bid and buyout prices to always be the same. I *think* (though I'll have to check when I get home) that we have an option in the Appraiser configuration options to adjust how much we mark the bid down from the buyout price. Look around in there and see if you can find it.

I usually sell my items on 12 hour basis and for example say i am selling a gem for 40g 98s 0c undercutting the competition by 1c automatically. But then someone has no buyout price and a starting bid price of 6g post it will make my starting bid price 5g 99s 99c.

Here it sounds like you're telling me you're seeing Auctioneer set your buyout price according to the lowest bid price on the AH at the moment. Is that correct? If so, again I'll have to check, but I think that would be a bug if you're using Appraiser to post. As I recall, Appraiser is supposed to ignore the bid prices of the competition, setting your prices based on your undercut settings and the buyout prices of the competition. I think it should be completely ignoring bid-only auctions when determining prices. Please clarify what you're experiencing here.

All i want it to do is still make my starting bid price 40g 98s 0c the same as my buyout price so i don't loose my ass on a 12 hour auction from lack of bids. Is there an option to do this? If so can someone help me find it? Thank you for your help.

Again, I'm not completely sure what you're describing here. If I haven't understood correctly so far, please redescribe what you're actually seeing happen, being as detailed as possible, and feel free to include any screenshots that might clarify things. 1. I too am experiencing "Auctioneer setting buyout price according to the lowest bid price on the AH at the moment" on some items but not all.

    2. Also could I beg the developers to add a check box on the Post tab to force Start Price to Equal Buyout Price? That would be so much appreciated by so many.

Thanks for all you have done for us!
