A new safer, more secure forum! (again)

    It's been 4 and a bit years since we last upgraded this forum, and we've finally decided as part of the overall move to new servers, to jump from Vanilla 1 to version 2.


    Hopefully overall this will be a change for the better and there won't be too many issues. Please bear with us while we iron out the kinks.

    Well, first problem is the message editor. It simply does not work in all browsers, and these editors leave tons of wasted tags in messages. I don't see it as desirable move.

    "My discussions" only show discussions started by me. :/

    And there's no way to access them when browsing some discussion - you have to jump out to discussions list first.

    We'll be working on the kinks. Believe me when I say that the team will be the first in line to raise ideas for improvements. :)

    Our old forum software was badly out of date, and quite frankly, was leaving us vulnerable to an attack. I know this change is rather drastic, but as they say, "no pain, no gain."

    Ok, so just quickly, the 2 things I'll be trying to implement today are:

    • Visible ranks, subscription titles
    • My discussions including involved comments

    I don't know how successful I will be at the second one.

    Yes, cause I clicked "Reply" to his mark as viewed post. Trouble is the indenting isn't working... I'm working on it.

    My Discussions still only shows discussions started by you, however now there is a Participated tab which shows all your participated in discussions.

    Ahh cool. Threading is much more awesome, though it will make it harder to navigate to new posts in larger threads without new tags and anchors on individual posts.

    Worse, people WILL break threading just because they don't know the difference between reply to the post they answering and to the thread.

    Yau! for "Participated" threads, although the sorting between them is somewhat strange.
    Topics with most recent posts as of mid-november could be stuck between topics updated in december, which, in order, was ordered backwardly :)

    The solution to persistent threading would be to remove the default "quick reply" form and let it only pop by the "reply" buton on relative posts.

    It was ordered by the date of your last comment, and not the date of the last comment of the discussion. I have "fixed" this and now it should be more like what you are expecting.
