Purging data beyond date threshold?
  • bluesoulbluesoul February 2012
I stopped playing WoW for about 9 months and weighed the pros and cons of doing a full purge. On the upside, I'll get a much better short-term metric for pricing on items. On the downside, I lose a lot of items seen 5 times or less that are hard to price otherwise.

I don't believe this is possible but I thought I would ask just in case I've missed it somewhere. Is it possible to purge data from beyond, say, 2/1/2012? And if so, is it possible to purge data of items seen more than 5 times, but keep the data seen 5 times or less?

The first question is: which data you want to purge?
Each stat module have it's own merits and means of storing the data.
Some can easily be purged by date, some can't even theoretically be addressed by date in first place, least - separated by it.
The final answer depends on what REALLY you want to achieve? What you're doing with Auctioneer?
I.e., I'm not really dependent on price history or fluctuations. I'm working from instant Appraiser prices (99.999% manually set) and historical data is more often confusing than helping. (Simple example: Histrical Illusion Dust prices around 2g. Instant prices upward to 15g.)

Sorry for not being more clear. I primarily use Auctioneer to find items significantly below market price and repost them at the suggested price. I typically scan and use the Search module to find items with 20g or more profit. It'll pull up data sorted by % below historical pricing. I tend to look at the SimpleAuction price, followed by 14-, 7-, and 3-day moving averages. The issue is, the price on a lot of trade goods and that sort of thing have hit the cellar since I last played, so my search results have a ton of the same few items repeated. I know I can purge items on a per-item basis, but I've also got good data from since I've started playing again.

    Hope that helps.

no, we only offer the ability to clear all stats (or limited to just one server or faction).

Well, you can. But clearing 9999 items one by one?... I don't think you seriously consider this as option.

Yes, you're correct, you can also clear an individual item. What you cannot do is clear by date range.

    Bluesol,

What it comes down to is that there is no easy way, as Dinesh and AnrDaemon noted, due to how/what each statistic stores. The only place where you can clear inormation by date is BeanCounter; it offers the ability to actually clear out old sales data by date.

As to your specific issue, would recommend clearing out all but Auc-Stat-Simple, that one, roughly, deals more with your recent scans than the others. The wiki lists how to clear the rest.

    Happy Sales,

    Nikk B-)
