I was just thinking about an add-on I'd like to see and wondering if anyone knows of one that has already implemented the idea, or if those that have already worked on add-ons believe that the idea would be too large or otherwise a bad idea. The general idea is to make an add-on similar to the gatherer add-on with the points added to the in-game maps for items but take it a step or two farther. I was thinking of linking it to the quest list and perhaps uploaded statistics for the location of npc's and drops for the completion of the quests. More or less creating a add-on that would gather statistics for the drops and locations of the items or steps to complete quests, and have a data back-end to start with some of the points. the complete dream would be to have an add-on that kept track and adjust the locations indicated on the map to reflect the current quest list for the individual using the add-on. Thus cutting down on the time spent hunting around and to some extent creating an in-game quest guide. I'm willing to help work on the add-on if it doesn't exist, and those of you with experience believe that it's do-able. I have some coding experience (b.s. in physics from cal poly) but I wouldn't consider myself a gifted programmer and I'm not familiar with the language for wow. thank you
I'm not sure I have the full picture on wow watcher, but it does seem like it would take care of part of the information gathering. I was kind of picturing something with two added parts: the none drop/item elements of quests such as when you need to talk to a npc, and adjusting the displayed items so that it reflected the current quest list. So that in areas such as the barrens the added markers would just reflect the applicable areas and not just be completely lit up with markers that reflected all possible quests. but is there a design spec or other document for the complete picture of watcher? thank you
