JIRA is the bug tracking system we use here for Auctioneer and related mods. This post is to give you some basic information about the system, and how we'd like you to use it.
First, some ground rules and helpful hints:
* DON'T enter anything into JIRA unless you are asked to do so by a developer. We don't want to clog up our bug tracking system with things that are other mod's faults, user error, data corruption related, or duplicates of existing bug reports we just haven't gotten around to fixing yet. If you have an issue/error you'd like to report, please first search the forums to make sure there isn't already a thread dedicated to your problem, then post in a new/current thread, as appropriate.
* DO try to ensure that your issue exists with only Auctioneer mods enabled. We can work to try to resolve conflicts with other mods, but we almost always need to know which mods are causing the conflict first.
* DO get in the habit of searching through JIRA for similar or existing issues before entering a new one.
* DO be descriptive and provide as much detail as possible if you log a new JIRA ticket. Is the issue repeatable? If so, provide a listing of the exact steps needed to cause the problem. Is there an error message associated with the error? If so, be sure to include it. Having said this, if you don't know something, there is no need to speculate.
Are you planning to enter a new JIRA ticket? First, you'll need to login (the link to do so is in the upper right). You should be able to log in with your forum credentials. (Please be sure to use the correct capitalization for your user name - the forums don't care, but JIRA is case sensitive.)
Second, use the search screen to search for keywords similar to what you are planning to post, just to make sure the issue hasn't already been logged by someone else. You can also use the "Quick Search" text box in the upper right of every screen to search our entire issue database.
Third, enter a new ticket. First, select the correct project (the component you are having trouble with), and whether it is a bug, enhancement, or new feature you are documenting.
Then, please be sure to fill in the following fields:
1. Short summary - try to make it to the point, but don't sacrifice specificity. "Error on Appraisal tab" isn't very helpful. "Error when splitting stacks using Appraisal tab" is much more helpful.
2. Component - select the correct component(s) if you know them, but if not please just leave them blank.
3. Affects Versions - Please select the version of Auctioneer you currently have installed
4. Full description - as noted above, the more detailed information you can provide, the better, especially if it explains precisely how to duplicate the error. If you have an idea what needs to be fixed, feel free to add it in, but don't speculate wildly if you really have no idea. If you have an error message, go ahead and paste it in here.
Please leave all other fields at their default values. That's it!
If you do add a ticket after being asked to do so here in a forum post, it is generally helpful if you return to the forum post and add a link back to the JIRA issue. This helps everyone else who reads the thread know that a ticket has been created, and let's them just click to see if it has been resolved yet, and if not, if it has been scheduled for a particular milestone.
